ABSTRACT

         Early breastfeeding initiation or often abbreviated as IMD is believed to


help increase the baby's immune system against diseases at high risk of death and
reduce mortality rates among malnourished children. The purpose of this study
was to determine the Relationship of Early Breastfeeding Initiation and the
Smooth Production of ASI in Post Partum Mothers in the maternity ward of RSU
Pancaran Kasih GMIM Manado.

         The study was conducted using descriptive analytic research method that is
cross sectional. Samples were taken based on the number of respondents as many
as 30 people using total sampling. Data collection is done by questionnaire and
observation. Furthermore, the data collected was processed using the SPSS
version 16.0 computer program for analysis with Chi Square statistical tests with
a significance level (α) of 0.05.

         The results showed the most age is 26-30 years 14 respondents (46.7%), the
most education is SMA 24 respondents (80.0%), the most jobs are IRT 26
respondents (86.7%).

         The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between Early


Breastfeeding Initiation and the Smooth Production of ASI in Post Partum
Mothers in the maternity ward of RSU Pancaran Kasih GMIM Manado . The
results of the study illustrate for respondents the extent of the accuracy of
respondents in initiating breastfeeding early so that if you have children again
can initiate breastfeeding more precisely.
