 “Who here is a fan of marvel movies? I for one, absolutely love them. Let me tell you a

quick story. It all started in the 90’s when girl took in what she thought to be cat. This

cat would turn out to be so much more than your typical tabby. She would take on the

world. However she only does this after she is basically adopted by the one and only

Nick Fury. This so called cat is actually a flerken named Goose. Goose was picked by

Fury, but if you watched Captain Marvel, Goose almost demanded it as well.

Thesis

 Today I want to explain to you why Fury picking Goose as his companion in one of the

best decisions he ever made.

 Some of the greatest things Goose did for Fury was save his life on multiple occasions

and help to develop his overall character or personality.”

 Saved from skrulls in captain marvel movie when it attacked with tentacles

 Kept tesseract safe from the bad guys

 o Later regurgitated in office where it was safe

 “Pick a side” –fury

o Goose walked over and rub against leg of a “skrull”

o Was actually good guy

o Cat intuition

o Saved life again

 In real world (2019)

o Cat and dogs (extended to all pets) reduce many health problems

o Reduce risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, feeling of loneliness, and

physical health

 I have mostly had dogs

o Same benefits as cats and flerkens

o Current dogs are hank and snoopy (beagle and beagle/lab mix)

o They also save me from things such a mouse hiding in the kitchen or a bunny out

in the yard

Good for personal development (style, aesthetic, mood)

 Goose ‘scratched’ Fury’s eye

o Not a bad thing, led to Fury’s overall aloofness

 Gave him a badass style

o Left permanently blind in that left eye with eye patch

 Pets bring out certain aspects in their owners (2016) -Paradise

o Cats or dogs can bring out more adventurous side in their owners
  Owners have to keep up animals wants such as walks

 Logic extended to Goose wants to kill and destroy bad guys so he is a good match for

Fury

 My dogs

o More attentive, spend more time outside (which I need to)

Conclusion

 “To wrap this up, Goose added a lot of value to Fury. His decision to take Goose in

during his formative years with S.H.E.I.L.D is one of his best. Through Goose his life

was saved a few times from the skrulls so that Fury could continue his legacy in the

marvel univerise. Goose also aided Fury overall mood and style as character by

mimicking his want to eliminate the bad guys and gifting him a blind eye to later have an

eye patch. Fury would not be the same. Something to take away from this is that you

should not underestimate the little guy. A character as small as Goose has done so much

for one of the main characters as marvel and I do not think that the movies would be the

same without him. Thank you Goose for everything you have done for Nick Fury.”
