Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at approximately 3:05p.

Welcome and Introductions

Vice-President Diana welcomed everyone and introduced the board.

Niños Corner (Formerly Principal’s Corner)

 Principal Tonja Yalung spoke about having patience with the pickup line.
 Mrs. Yalung said she has a meeting in October with DO and two principals at KMS to share what the “K-8”
experience will look like, she plans to share this by December.
 Still working on the Norte/ Niños transition, want to ensure a smooth transition
 Any talk on H.S? Discussions are being had with Curriculum/ Jim Bareell about possible district credit? Maybe
test out of Spanish etc.?
 Who would be person to discuss about having a Parent Night Out on this side of town? contact is Josh Glider.
Try to set up on this side of the freeway!
 What are talks of having morning drop off at the back gate? It is still a safety issue and manning another area
would be hard.
Volunteer Requests

 Box Tops/Labels/Kelloggs
 Teacher Workroom
 Reading Program Distribution – Book Distribution begins in November. Four volunteers needed for
distribution. Chapter, upper level books are greatly needed. Drop off books to the Front Office.
 Book Fair October 19-23, 2015
 Fall Festival November 6, 2015.

Minutes and Budget Review

Taryn motioned to approve Budget. It was seconded and unanimously approved.

 The PTA got the Audit back. We pay for an outside 3rd party audit / $300.  If anyone knows anyone that would
be willing to volunteer we could save this money!
 The library funds have been adjusted
 The PTA wants to be very transparent with our funds
 Question about the Dual Language Savings Account and was it absorbed in?
 Is the Dual Language Committee Continuing?
Upcoming Events

 Math and Literacy Night October 1st. PTA will provide free Rita’s Italian Ice, popcorn, and water.
 Next PTA Meeting is October 15th at 6p– Snacks and childcare will be provided.
 Fall Festival
PTA cleaned the scary closet and found all kinds of exciting games that can be used towards the fall
festival.
We are hoping each grade level will sponsor a game.
We are going to add a DUNK TANK this year.
