Blockchain in Education

The latest technology innovations have allowed us to give other people information,
expand our networks, and collaborate on various global ideas. These latest innovations include
artificial intelligence, quantum coping, and blockchain, among others. What is blockchain?
Blockchain is the way of computing using cryptography to link a huge list of records called
blocks in an open and distributed ledger. (Gheibi, 2019) Is the field of education ready for
blockchain?

Blockchain technology is an emerging trend and a new way of thinking to organize

school systems, records, and data online. The system does not limit the academic institution and
affects teachers and students, which will be beneficial in terms of efficiency. Using blockchain
technology in education systems will be able to track and prove the learning of students. It can
also educate the whole student population about its features and the growing research about it.
Lastly, it applies principles of technology to form governance in education.

Since school records are endless and a lot, blockchain technology can combine all
important documents and files for the institution. Assets like attendance, course/programs taken,
payments, grades, coursework, and even diplomas can be stored in their blockchain record.
Additionally, its privacy and security are very secured so that a student cannot tamper with the
information inside the blockchain record.

This innovation can help education build credibility for schools and organizations in
terms of providing or getting funds. It can hugely affect our education systems in a good way
where issues like accessibility, student debts, teacher loans, or support for teachers will be done
easily to promote security, ownership, privacy, and transparency in the community.
