PIM TEST
1. Set timer for 10mins with PIM tester on to warm up before calibrating
2. During warm up. Check all 716 connectors from RRU to top of quad combiner, using the
correct green torque wrench 25Nm
3. Clean connectors on tester/cable/adapter then Calibrate PIM tester
4. Also perform a PIM standard test to ensure correct calibration readings
5. Connect to and use jumper on output of quad to combiner, path A, then Path B
6. Set up PIM tester with the cable type that is most used on the branch, LCF12 or LCF78, set
distance 2m to max of furthest antenna on branch
7. IM3 frequency is set and noise is very low, If not new F1 & F2 required and new calibration>
See Richard.
8. Steps to check;
a. RUN Noise test: Check Noise is very low, you may see Uplink mobile transmissions
b. RUN PIM over time, check below limit -xxdBm, if very close, then check connectors
c. RUN Distance to PIM, this identifies the location of PIM
9. Save each file and YOU MUST use the correct name defaults, i.e RUA_WB_PIM_PathA_1
a. Rux_Station(xxx)_TEST TYPE_Pathx, run again after corrections and give file a v1
10. If error location cannot be detected, then connect with adapter directly to 1x of the two cable
on output of combiner.
11. Be aware, a loose connector gives PIM and a connector too tight gives PIM
12. The installation team, do not use a torque wrench and make connectors too tight!
13. They and you must close a connector by hand!!! This prevents a crossed or forced thread!
14. Not a spanner /wrench. Then tighten with the green torque, which is normal 14 to 1/2 turn.
15. Note, the adapter must not be damaged,
16. If high PIM close to RRU, then check connectors near first splitter, loosen and tighten to torque
17. If a the exit feeder of a splitter is an issue, take off 1x output and test, if still bad, replace and
then take off 2nd output and test, to define which is in error
18. Again, swapping a feeder A for B, can help determine which feeder is in error.
19. Most errors:
a. Connector cable has not been prepared, i.e. damaged cut ends
b. Antenna blue cable is twisted
c. Antenna is next to metal pipes or a tray
d. Loose connectors
e. Badly made jumper cable connectors
20. Test duration 1 hr per RRU location without errors, if 90mins errors testing stop and go to next
RRU location, give repair orders t install team, and come back to previous RRU to test after
corrections. Do not waste too much time.

NOTES:
Keep all connections on equipment and cables, clean and use connector protection caps
