The Philippines is currently facing challenges in terms of issues and

concerns that

threaten the health of all Filipinos. These lingering health problems affect the rich and
the poor

in terms of productivity, thus affecting the economy and development of the

community. The

Department of Health as the leader and advocate of Health Care Delivery System
confronts

these challenges through Health Thrusts, Programs and Services that are accessible,
available,

acceptable, affordable, and community-based for all. These cannot be achieved

without the

commitment and dedication of our present heroes – the healthcare front liners who
have a

direct hand in caring for our communities in diverse and different

settings.

The Public Health Nurses have valuable roles, functions and responsibilities as
leaders,

researchers, caregivers or health providers and members of a health team who

provide

evidence of service with no limits amidst difficulties in delivering health services. They
provide

care to different clients in the community such as individuals, families, vulnerable,

population
groups and the whole
community.

This CHN I Module discusses Community Health Nursing and its

Composition, Varied

Clienteles, Levels of Care, Health Care Delivery System, Health Situation, Family
Health Nursing,

DOH Programs, Ethical Considerations and Health- Related Entrepreneurial

Activities in the
