2nd-3rd Grade Butterfly Life Cycle Presentation

Concept / Topic To Teach: Students will learn about Google Slides as well as butterfly

life cycles.

General Goal(s): Learn the essential functions of Google Slides and the life cycle of

butterflies.

Specific Objectives: Show the students how to add to slides, to add a theme for the

slides, to change the font style and size, and how to add pictures to a slide.

Required Materials: Laptop, Internet Access, Google Slides, Butterfly Lifecycle

Handout

Anticipatory Set (Lead-In): Discuss student’s knowledge of butterflies and Google

Slides.

Step-By-Step Procedures:

● All students will grab a laptop and open up Google Slides.

● They will then find where it says “Start a new presentation”

● They will select the “Blank” Slide

● The first slide would be their title page and say something along the lines of “The

Lifecycle of a Butterfly By Students Name”

● Select the Text box to add your title

● Students can select a theme as well as different fonts and colors.

● Students will then select “Insert” and then scroll down to “New Tab” to continue

the presentation

● Students will continue this until they have entered every step of the butterfly

lifecycle.

● They will add images

● Once students have completed their presentation they will then email their

presentations to me and I will put them on the projector for them to take turns

presenting.

Plan For Independent Practice: Students will work individually to complete their

presentations. They will utilize the tools in Google Slides to do so.

Special Education Accommodation: These students will be given extra help as well

as extra time to complete a brief presentation.

Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set): Students will discuss one new thing they learned

about butterflies as well as google slides. Any questions will be answered. They

will be given at least 3 days to complete the assignment.

Assessment Based On Objectives: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of

Google Slides as well as butterflies during their presentations.

Possible Connections To Other Subjects: Google Slides comes in handy for any

subject. Science is involved with the butterflies.
