B. State ment of the problem.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the antihyperglycemia effect and the antibacterial activity of
O. aristatus. Specifically,it aims to answer the following questions:

1.What is the difference between the test organism's initial blood glucose level and its final glucose
level that is treated with 1000 ppm and 2000 ppm of O. aristatus extract?

2. Is there a significant difference on the hypoglycemic effect among the positive,negativeand

experimental group on Mus musculus?

3. Is there a significant difference on the hypoglycemic effect of the four different experimental
treatments on the first hour and second hour of introduction?

4.What are the zones of inhibition exhibited by the different O. aristatus extract in Escherichia coli and
Staphylococcus aureus?

5. Is there a significant difference between the zone of inhibition of O. aristatus and the zone of
inhibition of penicillin (positive control) for each bacterium?

6. Is there any anti-bacterial activity exhibited by the different O. aristatus concentration?

C. Hypotheses of tue study

Ho: There is no significant difference on the hypoglycemic effect among the positive control,negative
control and experimental groups.

Ho :The four experimental treatments have no hypoglycemic activity on Mus musculus.

Ho: There is no significant difference between the zone of inhibition of O. aristatus and the zone of
inhibition of penicillin (positive control) for each bacterium?

Ho: There is no anti-bacterial activity exhibited by the O. aristatus concentrations.

This study focuses on the antihypergylcemia activity and antibacterial activity of Orthospihon aristatus
aerial part extract in white mice and on the different samples of bacteria respectively.The study of the
said plant limits on within the vicinitu of Biochemistry Laboratory,College of Science and Mathematics
MSU-IIT.The researchers used the Orthosiohon aristatus plant that is bought in Bagong Silang,Iligan City.
In testing the antihyperglycemia property,the FI generation was used and acquired in Biochemistry
Animal Laboratory,College of Science and Mathematics,MSU-IIT.Using the blood sample collected from
