Any other American, JIS or DIN standard as may be required by the Architect. QUALITY ASSURANCE Fire Protection Requirements\ 1. Fite Test Cerificate and Approval (a) All assemblies of fire rated doors and frames are to be identified by the relevant label required by the local authority, {(b) All door frames materials shall have been tested, approved and listed by US, Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL), material capable of passing ASTM E152-81a, ASTM E283-73, NFPA 105-89, NFPA 80, and UL 1784, {(c) Alternatively, all frestop and barrier seal systom materials shall be certified by the British Board of Agrement (BBA), tested lo BS 476 : Part 20 and Part 22, and all referenced Standards cited herein, (@) All door fre seals and smoke seals shal be "CERTIFIRE” and BBA ‘approved, or equivalent UL-iabelled seals. (@) When tested to BS 476 : Section 31.1, airinftration/exfitraion shall not ‘exceed 7m’/n or 0.25m"/h per metre of any door perimeter air sealing, Whichever is greater, at pressure of 50Pa above almospherc pressure. (All door smoke seals shall be tested to BS 476 : Section 31 3 and NEPA 105- £89 o restrict the passage of hot smoke fo a maximum 6% obscuration per foot (19% obscuration per metre. Protective Coating Requirements 1. Alldoor frames and frame components shall be factory cleaned, phosphatized ‘and finished as standard with one coat of baked on rust inhibiting primer paint in ‘accordance with ANSI A224.1 Physical Endurance Perfomance Requirements Al door frames shall be Grade I] Heavy-Duty Level capable of meeting the door tests of ANSI A250.4-1994 with 1 million swing operating cycles and twist tested 23 times at regular intervals during the cycie test 2. itor completion of ANSI A250.3 test, no meta ftique, cracking or deformation at hardware provisions cut outs oF along form contours shall occur. The Main Contractor shall convene a Pre-Installation Conference at the Site, one ‘week minimum prior to commencing Work ofthis Section. Require attendance of partes directly affecting Work ofthis Section including, but not ta limited to, the Architect, Project Consultants, Door and Frame Installer, job foreman, and all ‘other affected subcontractors, suppliors and manufacturers. 2. Contact the Architect two weeks minimum prior to Pre-Installation Conference to confirm schedule. 3. Review preparation and installation procedures, and coordinating and scheduling required with related Work 4, Record ciscussions of conference, decisions, and agreements (or disagreements) reached and furish copy of record fo each party attending and the Architect. Review foreseeable methods and procedures related to Doors and Frame Work including the folowing: ‘a. Tour inspect and discuss condition of substrate, load-bearing metal framing conditions and requirements, anchorage and interface with other finish materal, penetrations and other preparatory Work performed by other building trades. . Review Door and Frame Work requirements (Drawings and Contract Documents}. Review required submittals both complete and yet to be completed. os10-2 12 july 2013 d. Review and finalize Construction Programme related to this Work and verity avalabilty of materials, instale’s personnel, equipment and facilities needed to make progress and avoid delays. 8. Review required inspections, testing, catificate, calculation, and materia usage accounting procedures, {. Review weather and forecasted weather conditions and procedures for coping with unfavourable conditions including possilty of temporary protection, 5. Programme and indicate on the Construction Programme the Pre-Installation Conference date. 1.04 SUBMITTALS ‘A. The Main Contractor shall coordinate and submit the following under provisions of Section 01300, B._ Shop Drawings: 4. Indicate profiles, sizes, connection attachments, reinforcing, anchorage size and type of fasteners and accessories, 2. Include erection drawings with elevations and details where applicable. Layout ‘and elevation drawings shall be drawn at 1:20 scale. Detail drawings at 1:1 scale, 3._ Indicate welded connections using standard welding symbols, Indicate net weld lengths. 4. Indicate location, length and type of intumescent fie stop and smoke seal, acoustic seal and cut-outs. Show details ofall ronmongery installation, applied stone finishes and other related work. C. Mil and test certificates of fasteners, protective coatings, door frame, material physical and section properties information from the Manufacturer. D. Provide full size samples of each type of door frame complete with intumescent fire slop. smoke seals, weather-stippings, acoustic seals, ironmongery, etc for the Architect's approval 1.05 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND PROTECTION ‘A. Protect door frame with protective films B. All door frames shall be braced with adjustable base ties to hold frames rigid during transit and erection. Base tes shall be fited to suit thickness of floor finish. Remove base ties after installation, 4.08 PROJECT SITE CONDITIONS ‘A. Field Measurements: Verify that field measurements are as indiceted on shop rawings. B. Coordination: Coordinate the Work with door opening construction, door frame and door hardware installation, PART 2PRODUCTS, 201 MANUFACTURERS: |A. Subject to compliance with the specified requirements herein, the Main Contractor shall supply and install door frames, fixings, and framing components, from a ‘manufacturer ofa least 10 years documentad experience in the production of high quality metal door frames. 2.02 DOOR FRAMES Wort Mumbai oet10.3 12 july 2013 203 2.04 Won Mumbat Exterior and Interior Flush Door Frames 1. Interior Door Frames : Formed mild stool of 1.6mm thickness (16 gauge) per BS 1449 : Part 1, classification CR4/GP. Provide with all comers mitred and welded. ‘All welds to be ground smooth. Hol-cip galvanized steel frame complying with [BS 2989 class 2A and treated with 1 coat of calcium plumbate priming paint ‘complying with 8S 3698. 2. Exterior Door Frames : Formad hot-dip galvanized mild steel of 1.6mm thickness (16 gage) complying with BS 2989 Class 2A. Frames treated with 1 coat of calcium plumbate priming paint complying with BS 3698. Mitred and welded units 3. Door frame jamb depth, profile and rebate vary. Refer to the Drawings for each location and application. 26mm minimum coor frame stop for fire-ated doors. 4. All door hinge fixing at exterior and high security doors shall be welded to the ‘door frame. Screw on hinges used in other application shall have reinforcing plates fixed to the door frame. Reinforcing plate shall be 2.5mm thick minimum with length 70mm greater than hinge length. Comply with BS 1449: Part 1 5. Provide mortar guards welded to door frame where cutouts are provided for lock strike plates or bolts. Door frames for single doors shall be fited with an ‘adjustable lock strike plate, zinc coated steet complying with BS491 or BS 1708, Classification 2N3. 6. Where specified in the Drawings, stainless steel door frames shall be Type 316 S11 with 2.5% molybdenum, 1.6mm thick in Harime Finish, 7. Reinforcement plates of 2.5mm thick minimum shall be installed on all door {frames for installation of door closers, hinges, locks. and panic hardwares. Install LL-shape frame corner reinforcements at head-jamb wanstions, DOOR FRAME ACCESSORIES Fixing Anchors 1. Three adjustable door fixing shall be supplied for each jamb of all door frames. “T-shape fxing anchors shall be 1.2mm thick minimum corrugated galvanised ‘steel. Anchors to be located to suit course height of brickwork. 2. Adjustable L-shape floor anchors shall be 2mm thick, galvanised steel. One base ‘anchor per jamb, Fixing anchors for face fixed frames. 1. Provide a minimum of three number adjustable jamb anchors per jamb. Provide ‘Suitable fixing bolts for installation into reinforced concrete. Fixing bolts to be ‘countersunk into frame and conceded with a face cap. Face cap to be fabricated from metal, finished to match the frame, Rubber Silencers : 10mm diameter by 2mm thick rubber silencers fied to frame rebate. Install 3 silencers on lock jamb side for single doors. Place one silencer ‘adjacent to lock strike piate and the other two approximately 450mm from the fist. For double doors, install one silencer for each door lea at head spaced approximately 150mm from meeting joint between the door leaves. \Weatherstrippings : Head, jamb and meeting stie weatherstrinping of closed cell ‘neoprene conforming to ASTM D-1056-78, Type Il, Grade A, ol-resistant and solf- extinguishing. Secure all weatherstripping with fat head zinc plated Philips sel tapping, self-driling screws. All weatherstrippings shall be ai-nfitration seal rated ‘and tested per ANSVASTM E283-73. Intumescent Fire and Smoke Seals : Intumescent fire and smoke seals to prevent penetration by hot gases, smoke, heat and flame. They shall comply with NFPA-105 (1989), BS 476 : Part 20, 23 & 31.1, and ASTM E153-81a. Intumescent Fire ang ‘smoke seal types and locations shall be selected to meet specific fre-resistance requirement of each door and test certificate requirements, Protective Film : Stippable protective polyviny chloride (PVC) film of 0.3mm thick to ‘cover al door frames to prevent damage during transport and installation. FABRICATION ono s2 uy 2013, ‘A. Fabricate units riid, neat, and free from warp or buckle. Weld exposed joints continuously; grind, dress, and make smooth, flush and invisible. B._Fabricate frames with all required hardware reinforcement plates welded in place. Provide mortar guard boxes, ©. Reinforce units to receive both surface applied and mortise finish hardware. All ironmongery is tobe fully morticed into frame unless noted otherwise D. Prepare frames for all silencers. Refer to Clause 2.038 above for quantity and locations, PART3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verity substrate conditions, opening sizes and tolerances are acceptable for proper installation, 3,02 INSTALLATION ‘A. Install frames in accordance with Manufacturer's instructions. B._ Set frame within opening, plumb jambs and level head. Brace frame as required. Build frame into wall. Fully fil the frame wth mortar as the work progresses. The {frame alignment is to be checked as the walls built ©. Coordinate with adjacent wall construction for anchor placement, D. Provide mortar filing of door frames at all fire-rated doors and at locations indicated on the Drawings. E. Coordinate installation of metal and wood doors specified in Section 08100 and 08200. 3,03 PROTECTION & CLEANING ‘A. After steel door frames are installed, i shall be the responsibilty of the Main ‘Contractor to verify that itis properly and adequately protected from damage, ‘Sutiable cushioned protection shail be provided wherever required, which may not damage or deface door frames. B. All steel door frame work in progress shall be protected at all imes during Construction by use of a suitable strong, impervious protective fim and board ‘securely held in place and maintained, Additional protection shall be provided by the ‘Main Contractor at heavily trafficed areas, and locations subject to impactibuse.
