SLS 2221: LAW AND DEVELOPMENT

DECEMBER 2020 - APRIL 2021

CAT 2: GROUP WORK ASSIGNMENT

Guidelines

1. Select a country as a case study to examine the development trajectory of the

country of choice over a given period of time.

2. The scope of the examination can be broad i.e. it can either cover
crosscutting development issues, or focus on a specific development issue.  This
scope is left to the discretion of each group and will be dependent on the context
in the country of choice.

3. In either of the two options above, the group is required to assess the
‘development model’ in the country of choice by examining dimensions of
development such as political, economic and social (including cultural where
relevant). This assessment entails examining how the political system correlates
with the economic, social and other aspects of development under consideration
in the country of choice.

4. The analysis should include the pros & cons of the development model while
drawing key insights or lessons that can be learned by Kenya.

5. Each group is required to submit a PowerPoint presentation on their case study

(focus on quality and relevance rather than quantity).

6. 15 minutes will be allocated for each group presentation during class, to be

followed by a few minutes of Q&A.

Submission Date: 22 February 2021 17:00hrs

Presentation Dates: To be allocated after submission
