Geology portrayed in media

In general geology isn’t really well portrayed in media, like how do people that have never had
something to do with geology see it; do they think it’s just about rocks, or is it something else? People
who study geology see the world slightly different from people that didn’t and that’s a given (whenever
you study a thing, you notice that thing more). Most people take the mountains for granted, and any
other geological event, for most of them it’s a static thing (I’m not trying to diss anyone in this
presentation, I just needed an intro)

And this thing, the lack of information can create some problems in their understanding, when creating
a fictional world. I like Lord of the rings as much as the next guy, but have you ever really took a good
look at the map? Unfortunately the map, from a geological point of view, is horrendous, and that is
because J.R.R. Tolkien didn’t really understand how things went, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a
great world, not by a long shot, Tolkien created a wonderful world, with wonderful characters; he even
created a new language, that fans around the world started learning.

Although I know that it’s fiction, there are examples that look geologically correct.
