OP OWEN. 831 Science Education Institute Department of Science and technology 3 INNOBOX: SEARCH FOR THE MOST INNOVATIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING STEM RESOURCES Theme: STEM Resources for Remote Learning SEARCH RULES AND CRITERIA 4. Description The InnoBox Project is a nationwide search for the most innovative teaching and teaming resources (TLRs) which can be used in teaching both science and mathematics subjects. The search aims to encourage teachers to be innovative, creative and practical in teaching science and mathematics concepts to improve students’ performance in these subjects. It is open to all public and private elementary and secondary school teachers nationwide. For 2021, the search intends to recognize teaching and learning innovations that best respond to the challenges and opportunities of the changing education landscape brought about by disruptors like the COVID-19 pandemic and the 4" industrial revolution. The search also emphasizes innovations and initiatives that wholeheartediy embrace the interconnectedness among STEM disciplines and hamess their synergy in solving real-world problems such as the ones currently faced by the education sector. 2. Search Categories The 2021 Search will have two categories — (a) one for elementary level (Grades 1 - 6) and (b) one for the high school level (Grades 7 ~ 12). There will be two sub-categories for each: Digital Tools ‘Teaching/Leaming Devices and Materials ‘These are resources with a centerpiece that is an original software developed by the proponent(s) and is designed for either stand-alone use or with other materials and/or equipment. It can also be for either online or offine use. These resources must be applicable and appropriate to at least five different lessonsitopics across ‘STEM subjects in the category. These are resources that may include materials, supplies, and/or equipment that are originally designed, constructed, and assembled into a set or unit by the proponent(s). These resources must be applicable and appropriate to at least five different lessons/topics across STEM subjects in the category. 3. Search Eligibility 3.4 The search is open to all Filipino teachers who are currently teaching science and/or mathematics. 3.2 The lead proponent should be a science or mathematics teacher. The lead proponent may organize a team with four more members. 3.3 Collaboration with students, teachers, and other institutions in conceptualizing the proposed innovation is encouraged. 3.4 The proposed teaching and learning resource should be used in teaching both science and mathematics concepts. 3.5 The proposed teaching and learning resource must be largely original. In case the proposal builds on an existing resource, the proponent must acknowledge original authorship and indicate the modifications that have been made to the original work. 3.6 The proposed teaching and learning resource must not have been awarded or given special recognition in other competitions. 3.7 Entries submitted to InnoBox in previous searches may still be re-submitted for consideration provided that: (a) said entries did not previously qualify for the pitching stage and (b) it follows the guidelines of the current search. 3.8 Previous InnoBox finalists and winners may participate by proposing a new project. ‘The new project should not be a modification only of a previous submission. 4, Search Requirements and Mechanics 4.4 Submission of Proposals and Selection of Qualifiers 441.4 Schools are required to submit the following to the Search Secretariat at the Science Education Institute — Department of Science and Technology, on or before March 12, 2021. a. Form No.1 - Project Proposal Format with Line-Item Budget b. Form No.2 - Certification of Authorship c, Endorsement letter from the Principai/School Head 4.1.2 Proponents are required to fill out the submission form and upload their proposals and other required forms/documents at https://forms.gle/a6Mk6WchPoNN4pMR8. All proposals must be received not later than March 12, 2021.
