We work for the
vulnerable population
in Colombia
Alimentar Colombia is a non-profit organization that aims
to reduce the incidence and prevalence of child
malnutrition by contributing to the achievement of food
security in a sustainable manner in vulnerable
populations.

We focus our work mainly in the city of Cartagena, which

is the second poorest city in Colombia where
unfortunately more than 16,400 children under the age of
five with chronic malnutrition and more than 34,000
resides living in extreme poverty according to "Cartagena
Como Vamos". Attending 271 children belonging to 208
families in Cartagena.

One of the most vulnerable groups in the country

corresponds to indigenous communities due to their living
conditions, culture and location. Since 2016, we have
been working with the Sikuani ethnic group in the
department of Meta, operating a program of food
sovereignty to eradicate severe acute malnutrition,
training parents in childcare and generating a relationship
of trust with the members of the community.

internationally for its great contribution to the
sustainable food security of thousands of children

Our
Program
The objective of the Alimentar Colombia Foundation is to
reduce cases of child malnutrition by facilitating access to
food for families with food vulnerability, providing the
opportunities, tools and training necessary to facilitate
economic and physical access to food.

Economic access is facilitated by increasing family income

by facilitating their linkage to income generation and labor
inclusion programs.
Physical access is facilitated by promoting the production
of food for self-consumption, empowering families to
obtain food by their own means. Our actions contribute to the achievement of 5 of these
objectives.
In parallel, children receive nutritional and micronutrient
assessments. The family receives temporary emergency We develop our programs and activities always taking into
