Course Delivery Details

ISYE 6669 is comprised of two sections – AQ for on-campus students and Q for students in GTPE’s
distance learning program. The lectures will be recorded live in the classroom and posted on Canvas for
students in both sections. Attendance at the lectures for on-campus students is not required. For
students who plan to attend the live lectures, a schedule will be created that ensures an appropriate
number of students are in the classroom to allow for social distancing. This schedule will depend on the
final enrollment and will be distributed in the second week of classes. The lectures during the first week
of classes will be online only to allow everyone to attend.
Cloth Face Coverings
Effective July 15, 2020, University System of Georgia (USG) institutions require all faculty and students to
wear an appropriate face covering while inside campus facilities/buildings where six feet social
distancing may not always be possible. All members of the campus community will be provided reusable
cloth face coverings.

Face covering use will be in addition to and is not a substitute for social distancing. Anyone not using a
face covering when required will be asked to wear one or must leave the area. Refusal to comply with
the requirement may result in discipline through the applicable conduct code for faculty, staff or
students.

There are a few exemptions. Reasonable accommodations may also be made for those who are unable
to wear a face covering for documented health reasons.

For more information about face masks and coverings, review the guidelines from Human Resources.

cover all material through Tuesday, August 25th). Quizzes will be in Canvas. Each quiz will be released at
7am Eastern time and closed at 11pm Eastern time. The allowable time for each quiz, once accessed,
will vary based on the quiz content, but will be no more than 1 hour.

Project: You will be assigned a computer-based project using optimization software. You will complete
this project in teams of three. Groups will be formed early in the semester (but not in the first week).

Final exam: Per GT final exam procedures.

Excused Absences from Exams or Assignments

We only accept notifications from Dean’s office or institute Approved Absences with the links to the on-
line request forms below.
https://gatech-advocate.symplicity.com/care_report/index.php/pid167160
https://registrar.gatech.edu/info/institute-approved-absence-form-for-students
Please inform the instructor of your approved absences timely. If the notification from Dean’s office is
for instructor’s discretion and your absence prevents you from completing assignments or tests, please
discuss the accommodations with the instructor as soon as possible. Since it is difficult to create a
different but fair test, and solutions to assignments may have already been published, the
accommodation might not be a makeup test or assignment.

Expectations and Academic Integrity

At Georgia Tech we believe that it is important to strive for an atmosphere of mutual respect,
acknowledgement, and responsibility between faculty members and the student body. Please observe
what the I expect of you and what you expect of me listed in the Student-Faculty Expectations
developed jointly by the SGA and faculty: http://www.catalog.gatech.edu/rules/22/

Academic integrity is very important. Please see http://www.policylibrary.gatech.edu/student-

affairs/academic-honor-code, developed by the Georgia Tech Students.

Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

If you are a student with learning needs that require special accommodation, contact the Office of
Disability Services at (404)894-2563 or http://disabilityservices.gatech.edu/, as soon as possible, to
make an appointment to discuss your special needs and to obtain an accommodations letter. Please
also e-mail me as soon as possible to set up a time to discuss your learning needs.

For Covid-19, individuals who fall into higher risk groups, as defined by the Georgia Department of
Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, may request an accommodation.
Students seeking an academic accommodation should start by contacting the Office of Disability
Services.

Campus Resources for Students

Library, databases, the Communication Center, Counseling Center, The Division of Student Life, or
Women’s Resource Center). Including these additional resources on your syllabus communicates to
students that you care about them and that you are committed to facilitating their academic progress.
