Occasionally, there is more, than one traditional fingering for a pitch. For example,
there are three fingerings for Bit“ These are
1. The C key, B key, F key, and Dz key are depressed.
2. The C key, Bo thumb key, and Dz key are depressed.
3. The C key, B key, Bb lever, and Dz key are depressed.
In the first fingering, the C key closes the Cz hole, the B key closes the C= hole, the
F key closes the Bz hole, the G2 hole, and the F+ hole, and the D¢ key opens the Dz hole.
In the second fingering, the C key closes the Cz hole, the By thumb key closes the Cz
hole and the B hole, and the Dz key opens the Dz hole. In the third fingering, the C key
closes the Cz hole, the B key covers the C3 hole, the By lever closes the Bz hole, and the
Dzkey opens the Dz hole.
Given in the following chart are the regular fingerings from low B® to high Fz’. For
ease of reading the fingerings, only the keys are shown that are directly operated by
fingers. Throughout this book, all fingerings (except those given in the section on
glissandi) are presented in the following manner
