Business Analytics for Everyone

Script:

Analytics is the art of discovering insight from your data, and Qlik
wants to give this power to every user.
Qlik leverages Augmented Intelligence to ensure that our
customers are not just visualizing their data, but that they are able
to find deeper insight by using machine intelligence to accelerate
discovery throughout the analytic process.
Qlik’s patented Associative Engine provides the ability for users to
explore and search in ways that free them from the limits of
relational database and query-based BI solutions.
We provide exceptional ROI by supporting a Broad Range of
Analytic Use Cases supporting all users regardless of their current
level of data literacy. From guided-analytics to self-service analysis,
to embedded analytics, custom applications and reporting. And we
do this on any device, so there is no limit to how analytics can be
deployed to meet customer needs.

All your data together

Corporate Learning & Development | 4

Script:

Very few companies live in an ideal state where all of their data is in
one place or perfectly clean. In fact, it is frequently estimated that
about 80% of analytic work is spent on making the data usable. For
most solutions, that means investing in extra tools and waiting for
IT to prepare the data.
Qlik is committed to Minimizing the time to insight by providing
you with smart integrated tools that allow all types of users to work
with less-than-perfect data from multiple disparate data sources.
With Qlik’s Associative Engine, we also ensure that no data is left
behind. This means that there is no limit to the number of data
sources that you can combine. There is no need for pre-defined
hierarchies, no pre-defined drill-paths, no table joins that lose data,
and certainly no need for perfect data.
And, as data grows, Qlik delivers Big Data solutions that work in
the real world, developed hand-in-hand with our most demanding
enterprise customers.

Trusted multi-cloud platform

Script:

Qlik’s Platform approach offers Flexible Deployment Models with

SaaS, multi-cloud, and on-premises options, with the security,
scalability, and performance that even the most demanding
industries require.
We deliver all of this in a governed framework that ensures the
delivery of Enterprise agility without chaos, allowing customers
to control access to functionality, apps, and data using highly
configurable rules.
And, the Qlik platform comes complete with open APIs and toolkits
allowing organizations to extend, embed, and enhance our
platform to support their implementation.

Qlik’s end-to-end approach

Corporate Learning & Development | 5

Script:

Qlik takes an end-to-end approach to data and analytics, offering a

full breadth of capabilities supporting the overall supply chain from
data to insight. Data is the foundation resource of the new
economy, and analytics transform that data into insights. And
those insights are what drive actions that ultimately transform
businesses. Among modern BI vendors, only Qlik covers the
complete data and analytics journey - from integrating raw data to
uncovering and sharing insights.

The Qlik Platform

A Comprehensive Strategy
Script:

Too often, analytics strategies are decoupled from data strategies;

resulting in two different groups rather than one comprehensive
strategy. At Qlik, we like to think about it as a full end-to-end
spectrum:
1. Data is the foundation of the new economy. It is the
“natural resource.” Data exists everywhere, and it is
extremely important, but, you can’t gain value if you can’t
transform data into insights.
2. Analytics are the engine that transforms data into insights.
Analytics should be available to everyone, with a level of
sophistication that matches the skills of the user. And
analytics need to access all your data, not just limited views.
3. Finally, the insights that are generated from analytics,
delivered to the right people at the right times in the right
ways, will shape decisions and actions that ultimately
transform businesses.

Corporate Learning & Development | 6

Qlik Data and Analytics Supply Chain
Script:

Qlik applies this comprehensive strategy to a spectrum of

capabilities going from data, to analytics, to insights. Many people
falsely believe that visualization is all you need to get insights from
your data. However, visualization alone is insufficient. In this
section, we will explore the spectrum of capabilities that Qlik has to
offer in the process of turning raw data into shared insights.
Starting with Data, click on each part of the platform to learn more.
You must visit all three sections before you can continue.

The state of data today

Script:

Today, data is located all over the place. Even with large data
repositories, it is still scattered across the enterprise. Our approach
to enterprise data management starts with understanding all the
data sources used throughout the enterprise, whether behind the
firewall or in the cloud.

Cross-platform data integration and streaming

Script:

The first step in the journey is to get access to all of this scattered
data. Sometimes, this requires moving the data, replicating the
data, combining the data together, and integrating the data. This is
where Qlik Data Integration comes into play. It moves the data,
replicates it, and puts it into repositories that are accessible and

Corporate Learning & Development | 7

usable by users.

Corporate Learning & Development | 8

An enterprise-wide data catalog
Script:

Once we have all the data where we want it, the next step is to
understand what we have. Here, Qlik Catalog comes in to create a
catalog that gives one view of all the data that is available across
the enterprise. Our approach is to index and create meta-data
around all of the data sources that exist, so we can categorize,
index and prepare it for sharing, re-use, and analysis. The result is
an enterprise-wide data catalog that represents a logical view of all
your data. Having secure, governed catalogs makes it easy for
business users to access.

Select, load, and begin to explore

Script:

Once the data is cataloged, it is analytics-ready. The user can

simply select and pick the data from one place without having to
worry about what goes on behind the scenes. It is similar to filling
your cart with products on an e-commerce site; all the hard work of
categorizing the information, segmenting it into different groups,
applying the meta-information indexing so you can simply search
from one place, is already done. That is what Qlik Catalog is doing
for data; it’s doing all the hard work of categorizing, segmenting,
and indexing all the particular data fields and data sets. As a user,
you simply select, load, explore, and begin to understand without
realizing that all the data might come from different repositories.
You just take it and use it.

Qlik’s Data Integration Platform

Script:

So, to summarize what we covered in this data segment, it all starts

with source data that is scattered all over the place. Not only is it
spread out in different locations, but it is also scattered in terms of
format. Some data may be nicely ordered in a relational database
table, while other data is unordered and unstructured in a big data
repository. It could be in various applications, on-site, in the cloud,
or in simple files, like Excel.
Qlik’s Data Integration Platform provides the ability to integrate and

Corporate Learning & Development | 9

deliver all of this data, and then give visibility and allow the user to
take action on the data they can see. The Data Integration Platform
is a combination of enterprise data integration and delivery, and a
business-ready data catalog.
An important part of Qlik’s Data Integration Platform is that it is not
limited to Qlik. Instead, it is agnostic with any other BI tool, or non-
BI tool, so it is not dependent on Qlik Sense or QlikView.

Going beyond basic analytics
Script:

It’s easy to spend most of our time talking about all of the new,
advanced analytics offerings at Qlik. However, it is important to
acknowledge some of the basic analytics that we do here as well.
At Qlik, we excel at basic analytics, offering things like:
 Statistical aggregation and distribution;
 Geospatial and mapping type capabilities; and
 The ability to do predictive analytics and to work with other
external analytics regression tools, such as Data Robot or
Python, and put that into your associative model.

Cognitive capabilities in Qlik Sense

Script:

There are some great cognitive capabilities that can be applied in

Qlik Sense.
The Insight Advisor auto-generates and suggests the best insights
for users to explore further by recommending what type of charts,
visualizations, or tables might look best and help gain insights on
the data set. These recommendations are provided based on the
overall data set, dimensions, and the user’s search criteria.
Additionally, machine learning capabilities are included to provide
more relevant suggestions over time.
It also provides insights from excluded (gray) values. Because our
associative engine understands values that are unrelated to a user’s
selections, our cognitive engine can evaluate these and suggest the
best areas for users to explore further. This helps users spot
hidden insights that would be missed with query-based tools.
Qlik Sense also helps the self-service user to accelerate creation by
making chart type suggestions based on the data being visualized,
providing recommendations for linking data sources together, and
automating a number of data transformation and creation tasks.

AI-powered conversational analytics

Corporate Learning & Development | 11

Script:

We offer Qlik Insight Bot, which provides an AI-powered,

conversational analytics experience that gives people a faster and
easier way to ask questions, generate insights, and make data-
driven decisions. This unlocks the power of analytics for more
types of users in an organization.
The Qlik Insight Bot conversational interface features:
 Natural Language processing and generation (NLP and
NLG);
 An intelligent, self-learning AI;
 Insight generation for what is happening, why, and where to
go next;
 Contextual integration with visual dashboards; and
 The ability to set alerts, share and collaborate
conversationally, and even interact using voice - through
integration with services such as Amazon Alexa.

The Insight Bot is built on Qlik’s open API framework and

associative engine and can be readily accessed from within Qlik
Sense as well as through popular collaboration tools such as Slack,
Skype, Salesforce, and Microsoft Teams.

This value-added product is a great way to really expand the

number of users that are interacting with analytics and allowing
them to make data-driven decisions.

Mobile analytics
Script:

Qlik Sense is built with a responsive, touch-based interface that

makes it easy to access analytics on any device, large or small,
touch or keyboard / mouse based, without any extra effort.
The Qlik Sense Mobile app is also available now for iPhone, iPad,
and Android devices. It is a native application that encapsulates
our HTML5 based analytics providing an optimized user experience.
When connected, users can create, analyze, and collaborate exactly
the same as they would on a laptop.
In addition, it features the powerful Qlik engine running locally on
iOS devices, so users can explore various data and applications
without having to be connected to the Internet. This is not static,
pre-defined content, but instead offers the same analytical power
and associative experience as when connected.

Corporate Learning & Development | 12

Qlik Sense ensures security and governance for all apps and data,
and the Qlik Sense Mobile app provides support for deployment
and configuration through popular EMM/MDM frameworks such as
Airwatch, MobileIron, and Intune.

Corporate Learning & Development | 13

Embedded analytics
Script:

Today, we often see analytics as a separate destination. It requires

users to leave their standard day-to-day application or portal, and
navigate to a specific dashboard, or a different environment in
order to access analytics. At Qlik, however, we took the time and
made the investment to build a robust data analytics platform first.
That full platform capability with all the APIs needed to address any
use case, is what empowers partners and customers to embed
analytics anywhere, in any app, in any process, even down to
devices, in order to unlock data-driven decision making. In short,
embedded analytics brings analytics to the user, not the user to
analytics.

This could be achieved by simply having a frame within the user’s

portal to allow Qlik to show up in that portal or having Qlik
embedded within other applications that are used on a regular
basis. With Qlik Core, we stripped down our platform to the basic
“core” to be embedded in devices. This makes it possible to embed
the analytic engine directly into the device, and only propagate
interesting events or trends; so the user really has no idea that the
magic of Qlik’s Associative Engine is helping behind the scenes to
power some of the information that they are seeing on their
screen.

Reporting

Corporate Learning & Development | 14

Script:

Although reporting is a first-generation BI capability, it continues to

be very important to many organizations. At Qlik, NPrinting
provides excellent capabilities.
It ensures that the right reports get to the right people, how and
when they need them, through scheduled distribution, user-driven
reporting, and a new online subscription hub for self-service use.
Reporting is offered in widely adopted, portable formats such as
Microsoft Office and pixel perfect, and .PDF, using data and
analytics from QlikView and Qlik Sense.
NPrinting is meant for large enterprises, as well as small
businesses. It supports large deployments with multi-threaded,
multi-engine scalability and role-based security.

The Qlik Platform summary

Script:

We have completed our journey through the Qlik Platform starting

with Raw Data, working through Analytics, and reaching Insights.
This can be intimidating to some customers, looking at all of the
servers and the overall architecture, and that’s a lot to think about,
so we have to stress that they do not have to take it all on at once.
There are many paths that can be followed, and many different
ways to start and travel through this overall journey of data as it
goes from raw data to insights.
