ACTIVITIES FOR PRELIMS:

ACTIVITY 1: Hospital Pharmacy Organization and Administration

OBJECTIVES:

1. Accomplish the hospital and hospital pharmacy profile based on the information gathered in the
hospital

2. Draw the organizational chart (names are optional) and physical lay-out of the hospital pharmacy
department

3. Make a comparative study of the different hospital pharmacy profiles to determine the similarities
and differences in their organization and administration

*** Objective #3 will be discussed and shared within the class… output for #3 will be then be included in
each groups’ output (shared)

ACTIVITY 2: Hospital Pharmacy Forms, Books and Drug Distribution Systems

OBJECTIVES:

1. Make a listing of hospital’s forms (related to pharmacy department) in tabulated form and give the
use of each

2. Identify the different books and journals available in the hospital’s pharmacy collection or library

3. Present a schematic diagram (include medication process) of how the drug from the hospital
pharmacy department reaches the patient

ACTIVITY 3: The Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee in Adverse Drug Reaction, Drug Defect
Reporting & Emergency Drug Listing

1. Locate in the hospital the department that is responsible for the therapeutics committee

2. List the organization and function of each member (names may not be included but indicate their
profession) of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.

3. Observe in the hospital whether it reports adverse drug reaction and drug defects and how these
reports are processed.

4. List emergency drugs used by the hospital. (Include dosage form, dose strengths, and indication)
