Basic Valve Hytrol 100-34
Hytrol: Open and Close Principle
Single-Stage Loading Valve.
71 Series.
The Cla-Val Series 71 Single-Stage Electric Loading Valves are designed
for use on key lock or card lock loading systems where top-off of the
product
is manually controlled by the operator. The valves operate to prevent
delivery of the product until all electrical components of the lockout system
are properly set. The 71 Series valves provide drip-tight closure for
storage tank block valves operating in conjunction with pumps delivering
product from the tank.
The valves operate to control initial flow and shut-off flow into the receiving
tank using electric signals from product meters or central computer
delivery systems. The valves also provide positive valve shut-off for product
delivery and lockout the system until all components are ready for
product loading. When flow is initiated the meter signals the 71 Series
valve to open slowly until full flow is established. Just before flow is to be
terminated the meter signals the valve to slowly close preventing surges

product-loading system (for example -

Series Single-Stage Loading Valves offer the
safest and most accurate product loading at
the highest flow rates with minimal head loss.
Product delivery can be initiated by central
computer signals or by operators at the loading
station.
Two-Stage Loading Valve.
72 Series.
The Cla-Val Series 72 Two-Stage Electric Loading Valves are
designed for use on product loading systems where top-off of product
is automatically controlled by the delivery meter. The valves
operate to control initial flow, secondary high flow and shut-off flow
into the receiving tank with electric signals from two-stage product
meters or central computer delivery systems. The valves also provide
positive valve shut-off for product delivery and lockout the system
until all components are ready for product loading. When flow is
initiated the meter signals the 72 Series valve to open slowly until full
flow is established. Just before flow is to be terminated switches in
the meter signal the valve automatically to shift to low flow to initiate
final top-off. Precise product delivery is assured with drip-tight shutoff
every time.

Excess Flow Valve.
Model 85-01.
The Cla-Val Model 85-01/685-01 Excess Flow Valve is a pilot-operated
valve which closes when the flow rate exceeds the setting of the control.
The pilot control is a snap action device which is cocked in "normal flow"
position. An increase in the flow to the "excess flow" condition causes the
control to be released which in turn applies operating pressure to the main
valve in such a way to close it immediately. A manual re-set button is
provided
to make it impossible to resume operating until the operator
depresses the re-set button.
The flow rate at which the valve closes can be adjusted by varying the
compression on the pilot control spring. The range of adjustment varies
with the size of the orifice. When specifying this valve give the following
information:
I. Desired shutoff flow rate in gpm
2. Range of adjustment required in gpm
3. Liquid being handled
Flow losses can be reduced to a minimum by specifying as small an
adjustment range as possible. In no case should this range exceed a four
to one ratio between minimum and maximum.
Excess Flow Valve.
Model 85-01.
The 85-01/685-01 Excess Flow Valve is used typically in supply
lines to manufacturing processes or filling tanks where an
unusual increase in flow requires the supply to be shut off. In
normal operation the valve is fully open. Manual reset ensures
that operator must verify cause of excess flow demand before
flow is allowed to resume.
Vacuum Breaker / Air Release Valve.
Model 38VB/AR.
Cla-Val Vacuum Breakers are reliable and economical pipeline surge
control components, requiring no regular maintenance.
The Vacuum Breaker Valve (Large orifice combined with Air Release
Valve (small orifice) are normally closed. But when installed at points
where water column separation can occur, both orifices open admitting
air into pipeline, then instantly close to trap air and thereby cushioning
rejoining of the water column. In this manner severe pressure surge/water
hammer is prevented as the system returns to normal operation.
Simultaneously the small orifice Air Release Valve opened...due to vacuum
and stays open...venting the discharge of trapped air from pipeline
slowly until gradual normal pipeline pressure is achieved. Various small
orifice are available.
Water column separation in a pipeline may create high levels of vacuum
only momentarily, but the severe damage, such as a pipeline rupture can
occur when the water column rejoins. Also momentarily vacuum conditions
can easily cause a thin wall pipeline or sealed water tank to collapse
due to vacuum when draining fluid.Metal to Buna-N® insures “drop
tight” seal at any pressure. For these reasons it is sound engineering

Float Control For Closed Tanks.
Model CFC2.
The Cla-Val Model CFC2 Float Control is a float-actuated multiport
pilot control which provides non-modulating, two-position, on-off
operation. It is used primarily to operate remotely located Cla-Val
Valves requiring three-way or four-way pilot valve operation.
Designed for use in closed tanks, this control operates on a
minimum
level change of approximately 1". Maximum level change of
51/2" is needed for full capacity.
Note: We recommend protecting the control tubing and valve from
freezing temperatures.
