Bio

Dimitrios Soukaras is a Classical Guitarist based in the UK. He is


considered as one of the most awarded and promising Greek guitarists of
his generation. He is a Eurostring (2018-19) and D'addario Artist, a
Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, winner of the IGF's
Young Artists Platform and a beneficiary of the Stradivari Trust. He has
received 21 prizes in international and national competitions, most recently
he won the "David Russell" Guitar Prize adjudicated by the maestro
himself, Mottola International Guitar Competition, Company of Musicians
"Ivor Mairants Guitar Award", Academy of Athens Music Award.

Since 2019, he is the Founder and the Artistic Director of MUΣA Concert
Series which is a Music Festival happening during August in Corinthos
(GR). The purpose of this Concert Series is to promote young artists, new
projects, innovative ideas from different genres of music.

As a soloist, he has performed with Ionio Symphony Orchestra, Audentia


Ensemble as well as the Athens State Orchestra and Athens Mandoline
Orchestra and has appeared in festivals in Greece and across Europe. He
recently performed solo at the King's Place (London), Musikverein (Wien),
Cervantes Theater (London), and Megaron Concert Hall (Athens) and has
recorded for the National Greek Radio. In July 2019 was released his first
Album “From Dawn to Dusk”.

He is a PhD candidate at the University of Surrey. His interest in new


music and the process of collaboration led him to start collaborating with
major Greek composers, in preparation of a new Album, of 21st century
Greek music for guitar as part of the Advanced Diploma Course at the
Royal Academy of Music.

He studied with Michael Lewin, and Stephen Goss at the Royal Academy
of Music, where he completed his Master's Degree with Distinction and
been awarded the DipRAM (– the highest performance award conferred by
the RAM). His studies are supported by Athena Scholarship, Academy of
Athens and RAM. He graduated with the Highest Marks & Honors from
the Ionian University where he completed the Bachelor of Music under the
guidance of Costas Cotsiolis and Korina Vougiouka.
