Using Evidence Informed Practices in Designing our Change Intervention Plans.

There are several ways to search for evidence-informed interventions. You can review journal articles
and study results by using the Open Access journals such as PubMed

You can also go to national websites to locate information about the latest research.

One of the websites that is extremely useful for those of you who are interested in learning about
effective interventions in the area of substance abuse and mental health is the: NREPP SAMHSA’s
National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices

This site rates programs as effective, promising , ineffective or inconclusive.

Enter the search term: Anxiety

You will see that there are 4 effective programs, 13 programs with promising outcomes and 5 ineffective
programs.

Next go to the Adolescent Coping with Depression (CWD-A) from the list. You will note that this
program has outcomes that are effective for social connectedness, promising for depression and
depressive symptoms, suicidal thoughts and behaviors and general functioning and well-being and
ineffective for disruptive behavior disorders and internalizing problems.

Look at the information provided about the program including the evaluation of outcomes (note the
measures used to measure change)
