7) ABSTRACT
A method is provided for acquiring and transmitting bio
metric data (eg, vital signs) of a user, where the data is
analyzed to determine whether the ser is sufering from a
Viral infection, such as COVID-I9. The method includes
using a pulse oximeter to acquire a leat pulse and blood
‘oxygen saturation percentage, which is transmitted wire
wariphone. To ensure thatthe data is accurate,
within the smartphone is used to measure
‘movement of the smartphone andr the user. Once accurate
data is acquire, it is uploaded tothe cloud (or host), where
the data is used (alone or together with other vital signs) to
determine whother the user is suffering from (or likely to
safer from) avira infection, such as COVID-19. Depend:
ing on the specific requirements, the data, changes thereto,
andr the determination ean be used to alert medical staf

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TESTING FOR
‘COVID-«9
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1, Field of the Invention
[0001] The present invention relates 10 diggnosing an
individual's healtvellness, and more particularly, to a
system and method for using # mobile computing device
(eg. a smartphone) to acquire and provide vital signs,
‘which can then be used to determine (or sid in the deter-
mination of) an. individual's healthwellness, including
‘whether an individual is sufering from @ bacterial and/or
Viral infection (eg, COVID-19, etc.) or other respiratory
conditions or symptoms. The present inveation could be
used in conjunetion with a telemedicine of “digital health”
system to provide a reliable and coavenient method for
remote collection and observation of a patients vita sigos
