Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to

• Discuss about the different materials and their properties that one has to deal with for
constructing different types of pavement.

• Discuss the parameters to be considered for selecting the appropriate method for
characterizing pavement materials.

• Develop the understanding of student to the level of industrial standards in field of


Transportation engineering.

• Prepare a platform for integration of academics and research.

Shape test
• To determine combined flakiness and elongation index of aggregates.

Mechanical properties of road aggregate


• Determination of Los Angeles abrasion value of road aggregate.

• Determination of crushing value of aggregate.

• Determination of Impact value of aggregate.

Physical Properties of Aggregate


• Determination of specific gravity and water absorption of aggregates.

• Determination the fineness modulus and gradation of aggregates by sieve ananlysis of


aggregates.
Properties of Bitumen
• Determination of penetration value and softening point of bitumen.

• Determination of ductility of bitumen.

• Determinationn of inflammability of Bitumen

Testing of Sub-grade
• Determination of CBR value of subgrade soil to evaluate its load bearing capacity.
