 Classification

The fossil with sample number 060 includes to the classification of kingdom
Animalia, with the phylum that is Mollusc, the mollusc class of fossil number 060 is
Bivalve, the order is Ostreoida, included in the Placunidae family, the genus is Placuna
and the species is Placuna Placenta.

 Shape
According to the table below, the shape of the shell of bivalve with the species
Placuna Placenta is Trygonal. The texture of the valve ornament includes to the type of
Riblets. (Sreepat, 2017)
 Type of fossilization
The type of Fossilization Placuna Placenta is Body Fossil with
Permineralization, because as you can see, the fossil of Placuna Placenta is still have
the original part of the body. Permineralization is one of the type fossilization that each
mall cavity in the shell or bone is filled with new minerals. However, the original
material that arrange the organism does not change (Doyle, 1996)..

 Composition
The composition contained in this fossil is CaCO3, Based on the range of Fossils
Age Classification Scheme, this fossil age range is between Ordo – Quartery because it
belongs to the Heterodonta Subdivision. Based on the fossil age classification scheme
inside (Doyle, 1996).

(Doyle, 1996)

 Aplication
The fossils was deposited in the shallow sea. This fossil can be used for a variety
of applications, such as palaeobiology and palaeoenvironment.
