ENTREPRENUERSHHIP ASSIGNMENT: With the aid of practical examples identify and explain

strategies that can be entreprenuers in Zimbabwe m,ay adopt to recover from covid 19
lockdown induced loss.

According to the international labour organistion (ILO) an entreprenuer has beem described as a
person who organisev and operates a business venture and assumes much of the associated
risk. An entrepenuer is charecterised as someone who who have vission for growth, commitmentto
constructive changes, persistant to gather neccesary resources and engage in unusual results. As a result
of covid 19 many business found then constrained and incuring huge losses. However there are some
srategies which can be implimented by businesses to recover from all those lossses and constraints.

Engaging the govenment is one of key strategies which the entreprenuers must adopt to. The
government in its economic polices, it encourages for business generation, growth and survival. There
engagement of government by business will pave a way for goverment assistance to those business.
According to Marc Dvies(2019), ''goverment may assist strugling businesses through
subsidies,cashpayments, essential non-repayable loans, tax break,examption etc. The governmentt of
South Africa iytroduced a debt relief scheme for small and medium businesses which are affected by
covid 19 lockdown. They faciliteted for soft loans aimes at assistin SMEs to keep them afloat for a period
of 6months from April 2020. This strategy will go a long way to help businesses to recover from covid 19
induced loss of businesses.

One of the major stakeholder of business is a customers. As a result ofinduced covid 19 lockdown
businesses have found it difficult to reach to its customers and suppliers which resulted in drustic fall in
sales n losses. inorder to curb for these covid 19 induced losses the entreprenuers must engage the
strategy of shifting consumer touch points. According to Priya R (2020), ''due to social distancing brought
about by covid 19, business must shift from offlinepromotional media which includes billbord, cinemas,
experimentals, roadshows etc and shift to online media which includes short vedio app, online shoping
sites and apps, social cormece sites and apps for example South Arican company Romans Pizza have
engaged in online shoping sites which includes www.romanspizza.co.za on the site the customers have a
room to select nearest store, favourate menu and flavour and the dilivery is done in ashort while. This
helps the business to keep intouch with its customers and prevent for induced lockdown losses.

Covid 19 has brought about social unrest which affected the business enviroment and the workers.
Lockdown resulted in people forced to stay at home. and result in no production. However the
goverment exempt essential services from lockdown and allow then to go to work. Inorder to recover
from losses incured during lockdown, the entreprenues must think about how covid is affecting its
workers and stake holders. According to Gregg Schewartz(2020) he identifies challenges faced by
workers and customers. The challenge includes travel restrictions to work by police, wondering how to
manage their cashflows, how to manage employees in an enviroment wherby everyone wanna work
from home. By solvimg these challenges it helps the businesses to recover from covid 19 induced losses
of business.

Labour is a factor of production. Its demand is said to be derived demand. According to Tejvan
Pettinge(2017), Demand for labour is derived demand meaning it is demanded for what it produces.As a
result of covid 19 lockdown business activities and production was at stand still. as a result labor was
laying idle without production taking place. Wages and salaries contrubutes a larger fraction to business
expenditure therefore the enterprenuers must engage in the management of employees and related
optimisation. For large businesses, they must engage in layoffs, cutting salaries of higher paid employees.
Such strategies should be carried out once and not in stages such that it does not affect employee
morale. this helps the busiess to recover from induced covid 19 lockdown losses.

Keeping the team engaged is one of the strategy to be implimented by the entreprenuers. employees
and other stakeholders must be kept updated about every developement. It is entreprenuer
responsibility to keep tem engaged and stay connected through vedio conferencing tools like Zoom and
google hangouts. This helps to mantain high spirits within the team and understand the general mood
within the remote workforce. As workers are motivated productivity and efficiency is improved leading
to a significant recovery of business from covid 19 lockdown loses

Social responsibility must one of business core objectives. during this pandemic time of covid 19
businesses must engage in social responsible actions, possible way to help the comunities and country as
a whole. Many business in Zimbabwe whch icludes PPC cement, Zimgold, ECONET,and many others have
been supporting the soccieties through covid 19 awareness campaigns, donations of protective clothing,
donation of ventilators, payment of health workers and many other activities which went unrecorded. As
a result of these social responsibilities done by business it help the business to kep itself on limelightin
the eyes of the government, customers and investors and helps it ti recover from covid q9 losses.
