Objectives/Goals:
I can read and write thousandths in decimal and fractional form.

I can persevere when learning something new!

MA Standard:

Read and write decimals to thousandths using base-ten


CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.NBT.A.3.A
numerals, number names, and expanded form, e.g., 347.392 = 3 × 100 + 4 × 10 + 7
× 1 + 3 × (1/10) + 9 × (1/100) + 2 × (1/1000).

Meeting Diverse Needs: Scaffolding worksheet, small group instruction, sentence starters

Key Vocabulary: Thousandths, tens, hundreds, place value

Activator:
● Students will practice expanded form to determine decimals.
● Students use a turn and talk to work through problem
● Teacher asks students to hold up white boards to check for understanding.

Body:
● The teacher will present number lines thousandths, hundredths and tenths
● The teacher will emphasize math terminology while discussing how decimals have
equivalent fractions
● The teacher will show how to relate thousandths to hundredths.
