Course Unit 1, What is Liturgy?

How did the Church respond to the spiritual needs of the people during this pandemic through

liturgical celebrations?

The declaration of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in various provinces and

cities in the Philippines did not implement the Catholic Church from celebrating its sacraments

and popular devotions. Mired with poverty and various forms of economic and social limitations,

the presence of God for Filipinos is an essential element in moving forward and surviving in a

time of pandemic. And it is important for us to attend mass specially in times of serious disasters

that would strike on us like Covid 19. But the Church search and think the different

methodologies of how they were bringing God’s in someone’s home for the sake of children’s

and seniors that will not affect their health and conditions of the said disease, which at that time

until now was forbidden to go out as prescribed by the government. And the concept of ONLINE

MASS exists to help a lot of people believed to the power of God. That whatever happened

there’s always a rainbow after the rain. There is hope in the midst of pandemic and there are our

brothers and sisters who help us to overcome this challenges together as one family.

Ohers may say that a Mass is not a help or response of Catholic Church, because it has no

material object but for me it plays a big role in strengthening my spiritual faith to face the many

challenges of life without hesitation to fight and help.
