STEP ONE: FIND YOUR PROFITABLE COURSE IDEA

Remember, don’t list anything you don’t care about. Write down at least 3-4 for each section.

Things I’m interested in:

Things I’m passionate about:

Things I’ve done & have authority in:

Your online course should provide a transformation for the student.

Pick 1-2 topics that have the strongest transformation from above. Circle the one you’d love to
teach...

STEP TWO: SET YOUR REVENUE & EMGOALS

Use our magic formula to figure out how many people you need to get on your email list to hit your
revenue goals. For now, assume your course price is $200-$300.

YOUR CALCULATIONS
Find the email list size you need to hit your revenue goals

(revenue goal)
=
( (email list size)
x .02
(conversion rate) ( $200

STEP THREE: GROW YOUR AUDIENCE

METHOD 1: THE GIVEAWAY

Giveaways are a great tactic to get more people on your list very quickly! Two hosting sites we’ve used
are Kingsumo Giveaways & Gleam.

List out possible giveaway prizes

List out possible partners for a giveaway

One prize you can give away to everyone who enters to incentivize participation & sharing

METHOD 2: THE MINI-COURSE

Take a portion of your premium course & offer if for free as a mini email course.

What is one module of your course you can break down into smaller portions to give away free?

What are the new, small modules in your mini-course?

METHOD 3: THE WEBINAR

STEP FOUR: PRICE YOUR COURSE

Now it’s time to use the magic formula to figure out your course price! Use the number of people
needed for your email list size that you calculated in step 2 and add it to this formula.

YOUR CALCULATIONS

Find your course price you need to hit your revenue goals

(revenue goal)
=
( (email list size)
x .02
(conversion rate) ( (course price)

(revenue goal)
=
( (email list size)
x .02
(conversion rate) ( (course price)

My course price needs to be to meet my revenue goals.

Creating your course outline

Write down a step by step outline of everything that someone would need to do in order to get
their desired outcome. It’s a HOW TO to get your students to their desired outcome.

Break into 6-12 steps

EACH STEP BECOMES YOUR MODULES! To create a module...

Module 1 = First Step from Above

Module 1:
Video lecture
(Use Keynote/PowerPoint to create slides and Camtasia (PC) or ScreenFlow (Mac) to record your content. There are
other options availble, these are just our favorite.)

STEP SEVEN: LAUNCH YOUR COURSE

There are two phases to launching your course. Phase 1: Educate your audience to create demand and
Phase 2: Sell like a champ.

PHASE 1: EDUCATION

Goal: Generate demand for what you’re teaching by educating, creating an understanding of your
product, increasing a need for the benefit AND build trust through high-quality content.

How: Lasts 7-14 days keeping “leads” (people who have signed up for your lead magnet) warm
from moment of sign up until launch.

• If launching over 0-7 days: Send 4 emails

• If launching over 7-9 days: Send 5 emails
• If launching over 10-14 days: Send 6 emails

What to send?
AMAZING pieces of content including:
• Blog posts
• Webinars
• Videos
• Offer group coaching
• Look to lead mags and bonus content for additional ideas
• Remember! You’ve already learned how to make content :-)

PHASE 2: SELL! USING THE CRAZY 8 LAUNCH STRATEGY

How: Sell over an 8 day window

DAY 1
Email 1: Course teaser
• Say I’m going to have an announcement soon. I’ll be opening a course
• Tell what your course will be about
• Say that you’ll mention the fun details later

DAY 2
Email 2: “What is the course” email
• Tell what’s in your course
• Explain the various modules and takeaways
• Build up the value of your “bonus content”
• Tell them that your course becomes available to buy tomorrow
• Add a click-to-tweet that becomes social proof for the excitement around your course
