LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 9 ENGLISH

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of how Anglo-American literature and other text
types serve as means of enhancing the self; also how to use processing, assessing,
summarizing information, word derivation and formation strategies, appropriate word
order, punctuation marks and interjections to enable him/her to participate actively in a
speech choir.
B. Performance Standard
The learner actively participates in a speech choir through using effective verbal and non-
verbal strategies based on the following criteria; Focus, Voice, Delivery, Facial
expressions, Body Movements/Gestures and Audience contact.
C. Learning Competencies/ Objectives
At the end of the lesson the learners must be able to:

1. infer their feelings and thought about a picture and the poem;
2. analyze literature as a means of discovering the self;
3. select from the poem the end rhyme and the internal rhyme.

C. Presentation of Lesson/ Discussion
a. ACTIVITY
 Students will be divided into groups and will perform tasks
by following instructions:
Group 1: Task 4 page5
Group 2: Task 5 page 5

b. ANALYSIS
 Students will listen while the teacher reads the poem.
 Then the students will read the poem with proper sound of
English.
 The students will be asked questions about the poem that
would allow them to infer, discover themselves, distinguish
features of Anglo American literary piece.
 The teacher is going to present the poem written on a
Manila paper, and then she will read it aloud for them. She
will proceed to unlocking of the words which may be
unfamiliar to them.

c. ABSTRACTION
 The teacher will ask the students randomly this question.
“What is poetry based on the selection you read?”
 Students will give their own thoughts and opinion.
d. APPLICATION
The teacher will group the students into two and let them do the
activity.
Group 1: Draw the ages of man from first childishness to 2 nd
childishness; do a reporting
Group 2: Perform a reader’s theater of the poem.
