Essay Assignment: Apologetics

Write an awesome essay following the guide below. Use/follow this guide carefully. Do not go
off on a tangent stay disciplined. Weave these paragraphs together in a natural and easy flowing
manner. Use black ink, size twelve font, Times New Roman font and double space. Each
Paragraph is worth five points. Following directions is worth five points. Total points: 50. Due on
the day of our Final.
It is my hope and expectation that with this assignment you will have the opportunity to reflect
on your own faith life. Apologetics is a branch of Theology that uses Logic and Reason to defend
the faith and dogmatic teachings of the Catholic Church. I want you to come up with your own
topic for research. Think of a topic or teaching that you struggle to grasp or believe. After
choosing a topic of research I will be providing numerous sources that you may use in addition
to sources that you have found. Through the use of these sources, which you will be required to
cite, you will explain the Church’s stance on the topic and how She came to this conclusion. From
there you will have the opportunity to hopefully explain how this process has clarified some
misunderstanding, or discuss what teaching you continue to struggle with, and why.
Paragraph 1: Introduction (Explain the topic and/or struggle that you have chosen to research)
Paragraph 2: Reflect on what you were looking for when you began your research. Discuss what
you were looking for and why. What obstacles did you encounter?
Paragraph 3: Write out and discuss what you discovered about your topic through your
research.
Paragraph 4: Discuss the contrast of what you believed to be true, compared to what you have
discovered through your research.
Paragraph 5: Explain why you believe people, especially millennials struggle with organized
Religion. Why do you believe so many are leaving the Catholic Church?
Paragraph 6: Provide a solution. How can the Catholic Church prevent this loss of parishioners,
and how can She bring the ones who have left back to the Church?
Paragraph 7: Conclusion.
