ABRHS Students, Staff and Families,

Over the last few weeks, you have heard our school district discuss reopening plans for the
elementary schools and RJ Grey Junior High School. We established a return date for
elementary students to a full in-person model for April 5th and for junior high students
about 2 ½ weeks later on April 28th. We continued to study how to safely reopen the high
school for full in-person learning and it took additional time to ensure we could manage
some of the larger class sizes, increased student capacity at lunches and passing times, as
well as the generally larger volume and greater density of students at the school than in any
of our other buildings. The study process took some additional time and we recognize that
the additional wait time was frustrating for some. I appreciate your patience as we engaged
in this process.

After careful consideration of all factors in opening our school safely, we are moving ahead
to open the high school to full in-person learning three days after our Junior High, and
have set Monday, May 3rd as the date for high school students to return to full in-
person learning in all grades 9-12.

As we have done for students and families K-8, high school students will have an
opportunity to choose between a full in-person model or a remote model. More information
will be sent directly from the high school in the next two weeks with details about how
students and families can request a change between the in-person and remote programs.

The high school administration is also busy working with students and families to plan for
end of year activities. While the district leadership is coordinating plans across schools to
transition students back to school, the high school leadership will continue to lead planning
of student activities as it has done in all years past. The team at the high school has been
busy planning in-person end of year activities and we are hopeful that if and when the state
relaxes current restrictions, we can move forward in having these approved by our local
health departments.

We will have more information for you in the coming days and weeks with details about how
this transition will work and look forward to welcoming all of our students back on Monday,
May 3.

Thank you for your continued patience and resilience as we work toward reopening our
schools for full in-person learning.

Sincerely,

Peter Light

Superintendent of Schools
