TEACHING PLAN FOR KET 1

ESTIMATED TIME:

- 18 weeks - 36 sessions
- 1.5 hours/ session.
- Teachers teach 34 lessons. Two last lessons are for test and feedback, conducted by the Educational
Department staff

TEACHING METHODS - By WISE English Team

Will be instructed to students in the First session. Teachers must understand thoroughly the following methods and teach
students on the basis of the following methods:

- 6-STEP VOCABULARY LEARNING: 1/type of word

2/pronunciation

3/meaning (either in English or Vietnamese)

4/make sentences with all the common contexts/usages of the word

5/family word (noun, verb, adj, adv,…)

6/synonyms and antonyms

Use: Lac Viet and Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com , and
http://thefreedictionary.com/

- LISTENING:

TRANSCRIBING (i.e write down everything you hear as you listen). Note: only transcribe an audio/video for 2-3min length. If
it lasts more than 2-3 mins, only do the transcribing for 2-3 mins.

- Always ask students to MAKE SENTENCES. Correct students’ sentences. Making correct sentences is the best way to
get rid of the translation in mind when speaking and to have a fluent use of language.

Do not focus on teaching Grammar Rules (e.g, S+V+O, or If + present simple, S+will…). Focus on helping students make
SENTENCES instead, so that students will be able to learn Grammar through SENTENCES.
