Article (2020 Edition)

Article এর সমাধান করার পূেব মেন রাখেত হেব, “A” এবং “An” এই ইিট Article িদেয় “একিট” বুঝায়। অন িদেক, “The” –
Article িদেয় সুিনিদ কান িবষয়, ব বা জায়গােক বুঝােব। িনেচ Article এর য িনয়ম েলা আেলাচনা করা হেয়েছ, স েলা দখেত
অেনকটা জিটল মেন হেত পাের। িক এই কথাও মেন রাখেত হেব, পরী ায় যসব েলা আেস, স েলার বিশরভাগ উ েরই
"The" - Article হয় এবং আমরা এই জায়গা েলােতই সবেচেয় বিশ ভুল কির। কাথায় "A" বা "An" হেব, স েলা বিশরভাগ
সময়ই িনজ থেক ধরা যায়। তাই িনেচ "The" এর িনয়ম েলা সবেথেক বিশবার আেলাচনা করা হে ।

MOST IMPORTANT RULES

পরী ায় সাধারণত যসব িনয়ম েলা সবেচেয় বিশবার দখা যায়, স েলাই িনেচ আেলাচনা করিছ। Exception এর অথ হে এ েলা ঐ
িনয়েমর বাইের আলাদাভােব পড়েত হেব।

1. "The" Article : শূন ােনর পেরর শে র পর যিদ “of” থােক, তেব শূন ান বিশরভাগ সময় “The” – Article হেব।
পরী ায় সবেচেয় বিশ আেস, এমন িনয়ম েলার মেধ এটা একটা।
Examples : It is the name of a feeling. || The aim of every student is… || Dhaka is the city
of mosques. || None can avoid the impact of a rainy season.
Exception : a piece of meat, a section of, a country of, a matter of ইত ািদ।
বিশরভাগ ে ই এই িনয়ম সরাসির ব বহার করা যায়, তেব মােঝ মােঝ “of” এরপর Adjective থাকেল “A” Article হয়। িনেচ
গাড় কের লখা শ েলা Adjective, যিদও এই িনয়ম পরী ায় তমন আেসনা।
Examples : Our life is a sum of total hours... || When I was a boy of six…

2. "The" Article : শূন ােনর পেরর শ যিদ Plural Form ( বিশরভাগ সময় শে র শেষ s থােক) এ থােক, তেব শূন ােন
িনঃসে েহ “The” – Article হেব। Children, People, Men, Women, Teeth এ েলাও Plural Noun. পরী ায়
সবেচেয় বিশ আেস, এমন িনয়ম েলার মেধ এটা একটা। তেব, Children, People, Men ইত ািদ Sentence এর
েত হেল কান Article দয়া যােব না।
Examples : He shouldn't cram the answers without... || The people of Bangladesh are...||
Some of the rivers are famous. || None can stop the changes that… || If we open the pages
of history, we shall see that the men who have become × great...

3. No Article (×) : Be Verb (am, is, are, was, were) এরপর শূন ােনর পর Adjective থাকেল শূন ােন
কান Article হেব না। অেনক সময় Be Verb এরপর যেকান Adverb (not, very, also, always, only, শে র
শেষ ly) থাকেলও সটােক বাদ িদেয় পড়েত হেব। িনেচ গাড় কের লখা শ েলা Adjective. আর এভােব দাগকাটা শ েলা হে
Adverb য েলা বাদ িদেয় পড়েবা। পরী ায় সবেচেয় বিশ আেস, এমন িনয়ম েলার মেধ এটা একটা।
Examples : The students who are × idle suffer... || He who is × satisfied with... || It is ×
meaningless to me. || They are × simple but courageous. || Those who are not × industrious… ||
It is equally × exciting... || Their education will be × incomplete. || Even if he is × truthful... ||
Their ways of life are × quite different. || But it is not × necessary to... || that attract the
travellers... || ... are × famous. || ...who are not × industrious... || It is × popular...

 Exception : It is not an easy task. || That was an unnecessary topic. (adjective + noun িছল তাই)

4. “The” Article : কান একটা িবষয় স েক থমবার বলেল A/An হেব। িক ঐ িবষয় স েক এরপর যতবার বলা হেব, ততবারই
“The” - Article হেব।
Examples : Suddenly we noticed a ewe. The ewe had a unique beauty. So we couldn’t kill the
ewe.
5. Fixed Articles : িকছু িকছু শে িনিদ ভােবই “A”, “An” বা “The” Article বেস। এেদরেক কান িনয়েমর মেধ না
আনাটাই ভােলা।
Examples : the examination, is a must, the truth, a few, the same, a lot of, to success × money,
one of the, a piece of, in the long run, a long way, a very, now-a-days, the world, a matter of...

6. No Article (×): Determiners (my, his, our, your, each, every, all, some, much) িকংবা He, She,
They ইত ািদর আেগ বা পের কান Article হেব না।
Examples : for × each × verse... || My × first day at school…|| The poor people suffer × much
on a rainy season. || ... in × every society. || in × our country. || If × we do... || ...we × can't...

7. "The" Article : শূন ােনর পেরর শে যিদ ment, tion, sion, ance, ence থােক, তখন শূন ােন “The” article
হেব।

Examples : The development is only possible...|| ... for the progression of... || The importance
of computer can't be described || ...all its activities of the governance...

8. "The" Article : Superlative Degree (best, most, largest, worst etc.) এরপর "The" Article হেব।
Examples : Student should make the best use of time. || He was one of the greatest poets. ||
Tajmahal is considered as one of the most beautiful...

9. No Article (×) : বড় বড় শহেরর নাম, দেশর নাম, ভাষার নােমর পূেব Article ব বহার করা যােব না।
Examples: I live in × Rajshahi. || You should learn × English carefully. || It is located in ×
South Asia. || His uncle lived in × America. || ...in × Bangladesh.
: the U.S.A., the U.A.E., the U.K. etc.
Exception

তেব কান জািতর নাম বুঝােল তার আেগ “The” - Article হেব।
Examples : This is why, the industrious are respected (স ূণ industrious জািতর কথা বুিঝেয়েছ,
তাছাড়াও are আেছ তাই েত the হেয়েছ।)

10. "The" Article : First, Second, Third এ েলার েত “The” – Article বেস।
Examples : ….and widens the third eye. || He is the first boy in the class. || ... the two friends.

11. "An" Article : উপেরর িনয়ম েলা ব তীত যিদ শূন ােনর পেরর শ যেকান Vowel(A, E, I, O, U) িদেয় হয়, তেব
শূন ােন “An” – Article হেব। মূলকথা হে , কান টিপক স েক থমবার বলেল শূন ােনর পেরর শে Vowel
িদেয় হেল "An" - Article হেব। পরী ায় সবেচেয় বিশ আেস, এমন িনয়ম েলার মেধ এটা একটা।
Examples : Computer is an ultra-modern invention. It is an electronic device. || It has taken an
important seat in every × organization. || It's totally an online-based process. || He is an orphan. ||
On the other hand, an unhappy man finds... || Many × people think that an affluent person is ×
happy. || An industrious man is...
Exception : an honest(অেন ), an hour(আওয়ার), an heir(এয়ার), an Honorable(অনােরবল) judge,
an MBBS(এমিবিবএস) doctor, an SSC(এসএসিস) candidate, an yellow(ইেয়েলা) shirt ইত ািদ।

12. "A" Article : তেব যেকান শে র উ ারণ যিদ “ইউ” এর মত হয়, তেব শূন ােন Article িহেসেব “A” হেব। শূন ােনর
পেরর শে Vowel থাকেলও "A" - Article হেব।

Examples : It is a unique(ইউিনক) device. || He reads in a university(ইউিনভািসিট) || Also :

united(ইউনাইেটড), European(ইউেরািপয়ান), union(ইউিনয়ন), utensil(ইউেটনিসল), ewe (ইউ) ইত ািদ।

13. "A" Article : শূন ােনর পেরর শ যিদ Consonant িদেয় হয়, কান টিপক স েক থমবার বলা হয় এবং
উপেরর কান িনয়েম না পের, তেব "A" - Article হেব। পরী ায় সবেচেয় বিশ আেস, এমন িনয়ম েলার মেধ এটা
একটা।
Examples : Once there lived a poor farmer. || It is, in fact, a large village. || He had to
maintain a large family. || Everyone becomes a poet on this day.
Exception : "one" শে র আেগ "A" - Article হেব, যিদও "One" এর "O" Vowel. যমন : a
one-eyed.
14. "A" Article : Many এরপর সাধারণত Article হয়না। িক Many এরপর Verb যিদ Singular (is, was etc.)
হয়, তেব শূন ােন “A” – Article হেব।
Examples : Many a man isn't conscious... || Many a beast was moving to and fro.

15. No Article (×) : মানুেষর কান ণ স েক বলেল তার আেগ কান Article হেব না। যমন : Truthfulness,
punctuality, honesty, sincerity, discipline এেদর পূেব কান Article হেব না। তেব the truth, a punctual,
an honest, a sincere এভােবও হেত পাের।
