Public Transportation is a transportation service that transports many passengers at one
time and has its own schedule and route. There are many types of public transportation systems, but generally are a bus, tram, and train. Public transportation is designed to reduce traffic congestion which occurs in major cities of the world, so most major cities in the world usually already own a good public transportation system. A well builds public transportation system is characterized by a high occupancy rate, short headway time, and integrated with each other. The high occupancy rate of public transport is a sign if that public transportation system is successful and can be accepted and needed by the people. It indicates that people prefer to use public transport rather than use a private car. Then, It also shows that the government has succeeded to make the people switch to use public transportation. On the other hand, if public transportation has a low occupancy rate, that is an indication that something is wrong with it, maybe because of poor public transportation service, or because of the difficulty of access to public transit stops, such as bus stop or train station. Furthermore, a high level of occupancy rate generates revenues for the government or public transport companies, which indicates a good public transportation system. Usually around 1-5 minutes between arrivals, Headway time is generally influenced by traffic conditions that occur during the trip as well as the number of existing public vehicle fleets in service. So in order to maintain a short headway time, public transport companies (or the city government) will usually operate a lot of public vehicle fleets at the same time in order to transport more passengers. Short headway time makes people don't have to wait too long when in the station or in the terminal. Subsequently, a short headway time makes more people keen to use public transportation because it was faster and efficient. Thus, Short headway time is key for good public transport. The merging of many public transportations to become an integrated public transportation system is an advantage for the city and its people. It makes almost all areas of the city covered by many modes of transport, so it makes people easier to travel everywhere within the city. Afterward, It can reduce the cost of public transportation, because people don't need to pay again when transiting to another mode of transportation. Then, it can reduce travel time wasted due to the complexity of transit if the public transportation isn't integrated with each other. In the end, a city can be said to have a good public transport system if it has these three things, "Used by many people, short headway time, and well-integrated.” If it already has these three factors, the already existing public transportation system can be said to be good, and vice versa. If there are still shortcomings between the three factors, then it should be addressed immediately, especially by the city government, because a good public transportation system is one indicator of the progress of a city.
