> DVD our picks of the week Warry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004; Rated PG; $29.95) There was a lot of fussing that Mexican director Alfonso Cuar6n’s earthy sensibilities might clash with the oh-so-English tone of the “Harry Potter” series when he was hired to helm the third film. But on this two-disc set, author J.K. Rowling says she wasn't worried. She had seen his coming-of-age picture “Y Tu Mama También” and figured he was perfect because he understood teens. That's no small matter here, since Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) faces the horror of unquiet hormones, which makes shape-shifting boggarts seem like trifles. More troubling is the Rasta- man noggin that quides the Knight Bus-Harry’s double- decker ride in the movie. It Pops up all over the extras, spewing bad puns. Ignore it, along with the voice that needles “What in the name eex% Excellent #* Good ** Fair * Poor 22 November 28, 2004 Due of Azkaban is keeping you!” if you take too long to figure out the discs’ navigation. The “Marauder's Map” design of the main menuis clever, but it served Harry better than it will Muggles looking for cast interviews. And you have to sift through mundane making-of features and games to get to the tasty nuggets-who knew you could train bats by tempt- ing them with bananas? Movie: % % & Extras: % -Maitland McDonagh
