Radio the most accessible medium in Pakistan

Radio Pakistan is the most accessible medium of the country; it covers almost above 90% of the
population of the country. Education, information and entertainment are the main objective of the
broadcast strategy of Radio Pakistan.

In prevailing circumstances, to coup with the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Radio Pakistan is
disseminating information regarding the symptoms, precautionary measures and prevention of the
Corona Virus in all national and regional programmes from Medium Waves, FM channels, social media
and also though streaming and mobile apps.

Special Assistant to the PM, Dr. Sania Nishtar along with specialist doctors are participating in
programme Rabta on National Network and receive phone calls and SMS from all over the country.
About three thousand plus SMS and during programme about 30 plus calls are received during one hour
programme on daily basis.

In this interactive programme, in first phase, focus was on the precautionary measure, while in second
phase the focus in on Ahsas Cash Programme to provide special aid to the daily wagers and poor people
for their day to day needs due to lockdown.

In religious programmes, Radio Pakistan broadcast programme regarding the teachings of Islam to
observe cleanliness and also to have faith in God to defeat the spread of COVID-19 on National Network.

In lockdown situation, as a source of entertainment, Radio also broadcast music for its widespread
listeners from Turbut to Gilgat and Lahore to Karachi. Besides, Radio Pakistan also produced poetic
jingles and short duration motivational songs to combat Corona Virus. Promos, in all languages i.e.
Urdu, Panjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, Balochi, Brahvi, Chitrali, Seraiki, Pahari, Shina, Khowar and Gojri are aired
from respective Stations.

In digital age Radio Pakistan receives 30 plus phones calls and 30 plus SMS every hour with multiple likes
and views along with top trends on tweeters.
