Fixing problems with Magix programs
after a Windows 10 upgrade

If you have already upgraded to Windows 10 and are experiencing the above issues:

1. Uninstall the affected Magix program – the program name will be referred to as ‘affected program’ below

2. Delete any folders / files left behind relating to affected program that you find in the following folders:

 c:\Program files\Magix\ affected program

 c:\Program files (x86)\Magix\ affected program

 c:\ProgramData\Magix\ affected program - this is a hidden file so you may need to set Windows
Explorer to show Hidden files.

3. Next you need to check the Windows 10 upgrade has not corrupted any system files it needs - expect this to
take a couple of hours – do not skip the following steps

4. Press and hold down the Windows key and press the X key.

5. From the popup menu select Command prompt (Admin)

6. In the window that opens type in the following: sfc /scannow note there is a space between sfc and
/scannow

7. Let this run to completion - it may take a long time

8. Once the checks are complete you may get a message saying some files cannot be fixed - this is OK.

9. Restart the computer.

10. If you had the message in step 8 that files could not be fixed repeat steps 4 to 9 again - do not open any
other programs if you have to do this.
Note you may have to do this once more though twice is usually sufficient.

11. Reboot the computer

12. Reinstall the affected program, register/activate then any extras downloaded or purchased and restore you
folder paths and custom settings if you had modified them

You should now have a clean fully operational program.

DISCLAIMER:

As with all software installations use this procedure at your own risk – the sfc scan used above is a function of
Windows and checks that none of the files required by Windows are corrupt, missing or the wrong version.

Use of other software ‘fixing’ programs, online or downloaded, other than certified Microsoft or Magix tools is not
recommended nor necessary.
