1. Translate Paragraf Text: War on diabetes
The number of people with diabetes worldwide has more than doubled in the last 20
years. Diabetes mellitus, which is often called diabetes, is a long-term disease characterized
by high blood sugar levels. People with diabetes produce either little or no insulin can
respond properly to the insulin they produce. There are three main types of diabetes: type 1
diabetes, which is usually inherited and cannot be prevented: type 2 diabetes, the most
common and is the type of diabetes that can be prevented: gestational diabetes, which
usually occurs during pregnancy. In Singapore, around 440,000 aged 18 and overdeveloped
diabetes in 2014, and that number is estimated to rise to 1,000,000. India and Malaysia
consistently, have a higher preference for diabetes compared to China throughout the year. 1
in 3 diabetics is not aware that they have diabetes. Among diabetics who know they have the
disease, 1 in 3 people have poor control over their condition.

Summary/ Ringkasan:
A number of factors accumulate, making it a complex disease to treat. These come
from body weight, high blood pressure, and cholesterol, activity levels, genetics, and age.
Associate Professor Subramaniam Tavintharan said that younger people should be careful
because they think they are invincible and ignore their diabetes risk because they think
they are fully active and with ideal body weight.
In his speech, Mr. Lee said that 17 percent of Malay people in Singapore have
diabetes. One possible cause is obesity, which is more common among Malays. He also
reminded that people, especially children who consume packaged drinks with high sugar
content are at risk. Diabetes can lead to blindness, heart failure, and kidney failure, and
may require patients to amputate their limbs to save their lives. Mr. Lee said that an
average of about 1,200 diabetics undergoes amputation each year in Singapore.
Mr. Lee, who has a family history of illness, says winning the battle against diabetes
often starts with small things. He said it was a matter of personal responsibility. He
advised them to have regular health checks to find out if they have diabetes or are at risk.
Mr. Lee also encouraged residents to exercise more and eat healthier. The government is
also trying to reduce sugar intake for Singaporeans, especially from drinks sweetened with
sugar. Recently, the government has been considering several measures to reduce
Singaporeans' sugar intake, especially from sugar-sweetened beverages. The Ministry of
Health has invited public feedback on four options – a total ban on pre-packed high-sugar
drinks; single or tiered taxes on high-sugar drinks; mandatory front-of-pack labeling on
sugar/nutrition content; and a ban on advertisements of high-sugar drinks on all platforms
– to reduce Singaporeans’ consumption of sugary drinks in its ongoing war against
diabetes. However, these proposed measures are seen as rather drastic and some belief,
may not be practical and ethical.

How to Prevent Increasing Diabetes in Indonesia

At this time, the diabetes rate in Indonesia is getting higher. To prevent the increasing
number of diabetes, several things need to be done. First, Maintain ideal body weight.
Obesity is one of the factors causing diabetes. Obesity interferes with the work of
metabolism which ultimately makes cells in the body unable to respond to insulin properly.
As a result, insulin resistance leads to diabetes. Second, pay attention to sugar and
carbohydrate intake. Glucose which affects blood sugar levels is the result of the breakdown
of carbohydrates. As a way to prevent diabetes, we can choose sources of complex
carbohydrates, for example, brown rice. We also have to reduce the consumption of sweet
foods. Eating too much sweet can lead to weight gain. For those who like sweet foods,
limiting their portions is the best diabetes prevention measure, although it may not be easy.
How to prevent diabetes can also drink lots of water, because it can increase the ability of
the body's cells to respond to insulin properly. We must also increase the consumption of
fiber which can be found in vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds, and reduce consumption of
instant foods as a way to prevent diabetes and replace them with a healthy diet.
Also, regular exercise and regular check-ups can prevent diabetes. Exercise can help burn
calories to produce energy and store glucose in muscles for energy reserves. That way, sugar
does not accumulate in the blood. To assess blood sugar levels, we need to regularly check
blood sugar with a doctor. Blood sugar tests are important to monitor blood sugar levels and
detect diabetes early.
