Case Study 1
Question No 1:

Answer: Perception of a person depends on the way of thinking, behavior and attitude of a
particular person and in this case study it is evident that the perception on the same problem
differs from person to person according to their situation and role. In this case the difference of
perception and opinion of office and production manager justifies this principal of perception.

Question no 2:

Answer: Labeling office personals “bunch of paper pusher” gives us reasons to assume that the
production manager has a perception that the office work is very less important and requires
less efforts than the work done in plant and plant requires more attention in terms of space and
development. But this dishonorable comment towards fellow colleagues shows that the
production manager is asserting a counter productive work behavior which is very harmful for
an organizations internal environment.

Question no 3:

Answer: Murthy’s approach to get objective facts from statistics on plant and office layout will
surely affect the perception of office and production manager. It will give the correct details of
the efficiency of space consumption helping to avoid any further conflicts between production
and office manager. It will also help to better understand the space layout and take any
decision that is needed according to the situation.

Question no 4:

Answer: If I was in Mr. Murthy’s place I would have collected objective facts from statistics and
layouts of the plant and office prior from the meeting to analyze and judge the situation by
myself first so no miscommunication occurs in the meeting and any conflicts that can be caused
by miscommunication or misinformation can be avoided as I would already be aware of the
correct situation.
