Introduction

We’re amazing creatures. We blend all manner of emotion, intellect,

creativity, reasoning, inspiration, action, thought – and more – to make
sense of what we experience as life.

Then our brain processes those millions of bits of data – from the past,
present, and future – in such an elegant, yet insanely fast, way that it’s
considered by scientists to be the most powerful ‘machine’ in existence.

And I second that motion.

In our minds, we don’t have the confines of physical space and time. We
can let our thought travel as far back or as far forward as we want. We
can recall facts from a lecture, sing childhood melodies without a hiccup,
and fabricate detailed fantasies that could fill volumes of books.

What’s more, no matter where we are in the world, we can

instantaneously imagine anything, including loved ones, then feel the
true and exact emotions attached with them - physically.

This ability to ‘play’ with space and time, and manifest physical outcomes
from it, is a very powerful thing.

Furthermore, space-time is actually a field that surrounds us and is – in

its essence – unadulterated, pure potential.
9
This means we can intend a better outcome, we can reach for the highest
good. This potential, sitting right at the tip of our noses, is what we make
of it.

I hear you, “Whoa, Melissa! What does all that mean?”

Yes, I know I went deep pretty quickly. But this is such an exciting realm
of healing – the ability to bridge the gap of space-time to connect and
help another – that I got a little head of myself!

But please, don’t worry! I’ll explain all as we progress.

What you will learn

We’re going to traverse quite a few areas along our journey including:

 How energy healing and the quantum field form the foundations
of distance healing; and,
 What distance healing actually is; and,
 How to strengthen your ability to heal from a distance; and,
 What’s involved in preparing; and,
 Learn a variety of different distance healing steps; and,
 Understand what other tools you can use to help bolster your
efforts.

Learning prerequisites
Whilst my distance healing process involves components of Reiki
teachings, if you aren’t a practitioner – that’s okay! I will share more than
enough steps which are non-Reiki specific so you can learn, too.

As such, please note that at certain points in the book, there will be call-
outs to Reiki specific components. Those parts are meant for those who
are already experienced with Reiki.

If you’re not already a Reiki practitioner, that’s okay! Just please skip
those elements as prior knowledge is required for Reiki-specific
components.
10
Whilst completing this book doesn’t certify you to practice with the
public, once you’ve reached the end, you’ll be able to perform distance
healing within your consenting circles of friends and family.

But if you want to become a Reiki practitioner – whether to use the Reiki
components correctly or to practice with the public – you might consider
taking my online Reiki I, II and Master Certification course (details
provided at the end of the book).

To practice professionally
For those who are already Reiki practitioners, because I share a Reiki
Level 2 symbol in the following pages (which I recommend using for
distance healing), you must hold a Reiki Level 2 or higher certification,
and pass my final exam, to obtain my Natural Healer™ Reiki Distance
Healing Specialist certificate so you can practice professionally.

To be clear, if you want my custom certification the three prerequisites

are:

1. An existing Reiki Level 2 or higher certification (from Natural

Healer™ or another verifiable teacher/school); and,
2. Completion of my course which corresponds with this book; and,
3. Pass my final exam

For those who aren’t Reiki practitioners already, you can still become
certified as a distance energy healer! Just complete steps 2 and 3 above
to obtain my Natural Healer™ Distance Energy Healing Specialist
certificate so you can practice professionally.

11
My terminology

As any of my students know, I believe that following your intuition, your

heart, is the best way to live our lives. As such, some of my methods and
terminology may be a little different to what you’ve heard before.

Attunement vs healing
Some teachers only use the word attunement for the ‘initiation’ of their
Reiki students, whilst I use the term attunement synonymously with
healing.

I do this because when we “attune”, we’re essentially connecting to the

Universal Life Force Energy and becoming a healing conduit for others. As
such, the recipients of our healing efforts become attuned to the
Universal Life Force Energy, too.

So you may notice I will switch between calling a healing session an

attunement and a healing. When you see me using either term, just know
I’m referring to the same thing.

For those curious, when I’m attuning students to become certified Reiki
practitioners, I refer to that attunement as my ‘Student Attunement
Ceremony’.

12
Reiki vs energy healing
I consider Reiki to be one of many styles of energy healing. To me energy
healing is like the overarching parent with Reiki being one of its family
members.

Thus, you may find me interchanging the terms ‘energy healing’ and
‘Reiki’ because I feel they are part of the same family.

Attunee vs recipient vs receiver

I will call the person (or thing) who receives a healing session a variety of
terms – attunee, recipient, receiver, and client.

I use these terms interchangeably with no difference in their meaning,

which is: anyone, or anything, at the receiving end of your healing work.

Do what feels right

There are so many variations of energy healing that trying to dictate
what’s the “right” or “wrong” way isn’t possible. I truly believe that as
long as it feels right to you and those you’re involving in the process, then
it’s right for you and them.

“There’s your way. There’s my way. But there is no right way.”

- Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

With all this said, I hope you keep an open mind, an open heart, and enjoy
this journey!

Namaste,

Chapter 1: The essentials

To me, it’s imperative we get on the “same page” about what energy
healing is and how its effects can help the healing process. As such, I’m
taking a little bit of time to go through, what I like to call, “the essentials”.

Even if you’re an experienced energy healer, I suggest you review this

chapter because my ‘take’ on things may reinforce your knowledge, spark
some new ideas, or at the very least, provide a different perspective.

With all this said, let’s talk Reiki energy healing…

What is Reiki?
The term Reiki is made up of two Japanese words: Rei, meaning Universal
and Ki, which is Life Force Energy. So when said together, and
pronounced “ray-key”, it means: Universal Life Force Energy.

Reiki is one of many forms of energy healing. Those who perform Reiki
are referred to as practitioners.

14
Reiki practitioners are guided by highly experienced Reiki Master
Teachers who guide them on how to use the Universal Life Force Energy
to help others heal.

They live their lives by the 5 Reiki Principles, do regular self-healing and
meditation, and use symbols and hand placements for healing.

If you’d like to become a practitioner, then my Reiki I, II and Master

Certification course (details provided at the end of the book) may be of
interest. But again, it’s not a requirement if you just want to learn
distance healing for personal benefit only.

What is energy healing?

I like simplicity when it comes to explaining the world of energy healing,
so the easiest way for me to convey it is in three points.

Point 1. Energy
As you would probably already know, every single thing on Earth
(including you and me) is made up of atoms, which are tiny clusters of
electrons, protons and neutrons. Every atom is packed full of incredible
power and potential – that’s energy.

Point 2. Connection
There is this amazing thing that scientists discovered called the Energy
Field. It’s existence is pervasive – it’s everywhere, all the time, and
connects us all together.

This means no matter where anything is in this world, at an energetic

level, we are all connected. As such, whenever there’s a connection,
there’s the ability to create and effect through that link.

Point 3. Infinity
Remember the scientific “Law of Conservation of Energy”? Well, it plays
a major role in distance healing because it reminds us that: energy cannot
be created nor destroyed, it can only change forms.

15
This law proves that we aren’t just infinite in our existence, but that we
can change something for the better. We just need enough of a
connection and a strong, loving purpose.

All together now

Understanding these three points makes it much easier to see that we
were meant to transform energy – be it within ourselves or to help
others. What does this mean?

You are an energy healer at your core.

Okay so, this is sort of a mind-blowing moment. If you haven’t realised
that, please take a minute to re-read the sentence above, reflect on it,
and enjoy it as fact.

Ready to pick up again? Yeah?

Great, so let’s summarise what energy healing is in a one-liner:

16
Energy healing is a non-invasive technique
that positively influences and changes the
energy (at the quantum level) to help
someone or something heal physically,
emotionally, and spiritually.

Understanding boundaries
So, energy healing is about serving our greatest and highest good – or
being of service to another’s greatest and highest good. What is good for
us isn’t necessarily good for others, and vice versa – so we must allow for
those differences and respect them.

I want to be very clear though, energy healing is not some sort of mind
control, it’s not about ‘hijacking’ someone’s journey, nor is it about rigidly
controlling outcomes. Remember, there is an element of free will in all of
our existences.

So no matter how much you really want something to turn out a certain
way, if the energy is aligned for a different outcome, even with your best
healing efforts, you cannot ultimately overthrow someone, or something,
else’s will to do otherwise.

Don’t despair though, this doesn’t negate your good intentions in any
way. Sending distance healing can and will positively influence to some
degree. How big or small that degree is though, comes down to the
openness, willingness, and actions of the receiver.

Trust though, when you do a healing, there will be more loving energy for
that person or thing than there was before – that is for sure.

And any little bit of good energy is better than what it was before!

17
Did someone mention quantum?

The scientific community can’t deeply explain the world of quantum

physics without getting a headache, so I’m not going to try either!

However, I did mention the word “quantum” in the one-liner explanation

of energy healing before, so let me gently lead you through the quantum
quagmire…

Quantum physics is science’s attempt to suss out the root of how

everything in existence works.

The problem with their study is that the closer they get to the source of
‘everything’ (deep down where particles, and the forces that interact
with them, can be found), the more they find themselves in a place of
18
unruly, unmeasurable, and unpredictable outcomes.

Quantum testing is difficult because physicists find that the mere

observation of an experiment skews the outcome. This makes things a
wee-bit frustrating given that controls and repeatable outcomes are
required to arrive at a definitive ‘scientific’ conclusion.

On the flipside of this frustration comes a great confirmation though!

It shows that on the deeper quantum level of our existence, the mere
observation of something (such as sending an intention, thinking of an
end result), can influence the outcome!

What’s more, this effect is done through the ‘empty’ space (refer to the
Point 2. Connection section earlier) that connects us all – irrespective of
where we are in the world.

Despite my sci-splaining (that’s my term for over-simplifying science so I

can get a grip on it, let alone explain it!) everything about energy healing
thus far, when at the brink of its true source (quantum), it forces us to
recognise and acknowledge the realm of the unknown.

As such, we must concede that there are just some things that do work
(like energy healing and distance healing), but the exact mechanisms
behind how aren’t known.

At least not yet.

19
What is distance healing

With all this science stuff tucked under your belt, understanding what
distance healing is, is going to be a walk in the park! A long walk – but a
walk nonetheless! So let’s get to it.

Remember the Energy Field in Point 2 earlier? You know, the ‘thing’ that
surrounds us and connects us all? Yeah? Okay, so let’s go a bit deeper
with it.

As you know, a field of energy exists in all the space around us. It’s over
here, over there, under your leg, under a car, hugging a tree – it’s in every
space imaginable (and unimaginable).

Since the Field is energy itself, that means it’s always in a state of flux.
Think of it as the empty area just out in front of you right now.

If you put your hand into that space, the field reacts in a fluid-like manner,
rippling around your fingers, then outward and away. Imagine what
20
ripples look like if you were to drop a pebble into a calm body of water.

That fluctuating Field of energy is the same one that connects us all
together. As such, when we harness our focus, we can use it as a
connector, a transmitter, a direct-line, to anything else in the Field
(which, by the way, is everything!).

So what is distance healing? Drum roll please…

Distance healing is the focused process of

transmitting energy healing via the Universe
(aka the Field) to, or for, someone or
something that exists anywhere in space-
time.

Who, what, when

Yes, that does say someone or something anywhere in space-time!
Because we have the ability to focus on anything and anyone, from
anytime, anywhere, at any moment – the concept of space and time as
21
we know it dissolves.

With distance healing, we can remove the restraints of physical location,

physical body, and ‘clock’ time because when we are in the process – we
are in the Quantum realm.

And remember, that’s the realm of pure potential, the realm of influence,
the realm of ultimate connection. This basically means who, what, and
when someone or something can receive a distance healing is not limited
in any way.

However, this doesn’t mean you’ll change the mind of your ex-lover, but
you can forgive what happened and move on. It doesn’t mean you can
erase the past, but you can learn, heal and come to terms with it. It
doesn’t mean you can give CPR across the ocean, but you can comfort the
person’s spirit while it’s happening.

Alright! What a hefty journey we’ve been on so far, and it’s only chapter
one! I applaud you in hanging with me this far, and as such, you should
be poised and ready for the next chapter – actually creating that
connection through the Universe (the Field).

Chapter Recap

 Reiki is a form of energy healing – which is a non-invasive

technique to help others heal.
 Distance healing uses the Universe (the Field) around us to
transmit energy healing to someone or something.
 Using the realm of Quantum energy, distance healing can reach
anyone, anywhere, at any time.
 Energy and distance healing does not manipulate, control or alter
another’s life or will – but it can and will bolster loving healing
intentions.

22
Chapter 2: Making the connection

Whilst there are many more steps to learn before we dive into the
process of actually doing a distance healing, I want to share the ‘making
the connection’ part separately now, given its importance.

Alright, so here you are with your desire to help – and there the Universe
(the Field is), ready to deliver the healing – it’s now time to connect the
two!

Step 1. The hand energy exercise

As you know, energy is always around us, ever present, so you really don’t
need to “feel” anything to know it’s there. However, we are creatures
that take comfort in validation and confirmation.

As such, my hand energy exercise is a way for us to physically feel the

energy we are going to use to help others. Even if you’re experienced in
energy healing or Reiki, if you haven’t done this before – give it a try – it’s
really quite beautiful to experience!
23
Practice Tip! It’s essential to keep an open mind when first trying this and
– while the aim is to feel the energy – don’t focus on trying to feel it. You
know what they say when you “watch a kettle boil”? It never seems to
happen! Just do the motions with as little expectation as possible and
watch how you blossom!

1. Relax: Get comfortable, you can do this seated or lying down. If

possible meditate and place both of your hands, palms-up, on
their respective thighs.

2. Visualize: Imagine yourself underneath a deep blue night sky

that’s full of twinkling stars.
a. Those stars are releasing a gentle white flow of light (like
a soft waterfall), going directly into the top of your head.
b. The light is pure energy that fills your body up with
radiance and feels beautiful.
c. You are aglow with this rejuvenating white light.
3. Continue Visualizing: Open your eyes and look at the palm of
your left hand and imagine white rays of light coming out from it.

24
4. Play: With this energy emanating from your left palm, move your
eyes over to your right palm.
a. And as you do this the dancing energy moves to where
ever your eyes go.
5. Visualize: As you gaze into your right palm you see rays of light
shining out.
a. You are now totally immersed in and glowing with white
light.

6. Rub: Once you’re ready, rub your hands together – robustly, but
not too hard – for a few moments.

25
7. Hold: Now, hold them still and move them just slightly apart.
8. Feel: In this pose, you will start to feel a connection between your
two hands.
a. This could feel like an invisible box or ball you’re now
holding, perhaps some tingling, or a little bit of a ‘charge’
– and when you lightly push your hands towards each
other – you feel a bit of a bounce or resistance.
b. That resistance is the energy we’ve been talking of and
now you’re feeling it!

9. Move: Still maintaining this stance, pull your hands slightly

further apart, shift one up or down, and you will be able to feel
the energy stretch and pull at your palms.

26
10. Compress: Once you complete this little bit of energy play, go
back to the original position of holding your hands just slightly
apart again.
a. You should now be able to feel the energy compress.

11. Complete: Congratulations, you have just felt the glorious

Universal Life Force Energy within your hands!

At any point while doing those steps, you might have felt tingling,
warmth, or it might just have felt really good! All these sensations are
perfectly fine – just be proud that you’ve now felt that wonderful energy!

Practice! Learn to do this by heart

27
But, I didn’t feel anything
Remember, everyone experiences life (and thus, energy) in their own
unique way. So just because you felt something a little different than
what I mentioned above, or didn’t feel anything at all, that doesn’t mean
you did anything wrong!

I teach this same connection exercise to my Reiki I, II and Master students

and use this little analogy about listening to a song on the radio to further
explain:

You can’t see or feel the song (energy),

until you get a radio (an energy healer) and
purposely tune (have energy healing
performed) into the channel. As you learn
how to use your radio (become an energy
healer), you might hear some tunes in
amongst some fuzzy noise (getting attuned
to the energy), until finally, you reach the
correct setting and hear the song clearly
(feel the energy).
Based on this little example, you wouldn’t say the song doesn’t exist, you
would simply say, “I haven’t tuned into the right channel.” It’s the same
with feeling energy healing.

So for those who tried this and didn’t feel anything, please don’t worry!
You know scientifically that the energy is there – just keep practicing and
when it’s the right time for you – you’ll feel it.

28
Step 2. Create the connection (channel)
As I explained in the introductory chapter, harnessing the power of our
minds allows us to obliterate the ego-barrier we’ve placed around what
we can do as healers.

So what you’re about to learn will allow you to create the connection to
the Universe, which we’ll be using as the channel (or ‘medium’) to
actually send (or ‘transmit’) the distance healing.

To be clear – I’m not explaining the actual healing bits yet! The precise
steps of how to move beyond creating the Universal channel will be
taught in the relevant distance healing sections coming up.

Please note, the following steps are a flow-on from the Hand Energy
Exercise you just learned, so to get the most out of this process – ensure
you do that first.

Practice Tip! Connecting with the Universe isn’t about sending your own
energy – it’s about being a conduit of that energy to send to others. Make
sure to follow these steps so you don’t end up sending all your own
energy stores elsewhere, leaving you exhausted!

1. Prepare: Do the Hand Energy Exercise steps.

2. Visualize: Now, imagine any representation of love that
resonates with you (for example: hearts, red roses, or the colour
pink) and insert it into the energy that you can feel between your
hands.
a. Power it up! If you can also feel the blissful sensations of
love in your heart while doing this, do that too! As it will
bolster the energy even more!

29
30
3. Continue Visualizing: Now close your eyes, and place your hands
out in front of you and open them, like you’re imitating opening
a book.
4. Connect: The love-infused energy (that’s now in your hands)
instinctively understands its purpose – it’s to be transmitted to
another. As such, it grows stronger and brighter in preparation
for its journey.

a. This strengthening creates a Universal channel – a

column of radiating white light – going directly back up
to the stars in that deep blue night sky.
5. Continued Connection: At this point, you are receiving pure
energy from the Universe into the top of your head, infusing it
with love (step 2), then sending it back out again using the
Universal channel your love created.
a. This is your connection (the channel) for which your
distance healing will travel upon.
b. Note: The actual healing steps will be provided in their
respective upcoming chapters

31
32
6. Disconnect: Once you’re ready to, imagine the column of
radiating white light start to fade and become softer. It
eventually fades away and disappears completely.

7. Continue Disconnecting: Start closing your hands (which have

been open), like you’re imitating closing a book.
a. Even though you’ve sent it out to the Universe, your
inner love is stronger than ever because what you focus
on gets stronger, and what you give in love ultimately
ends up surrounding you more and more.

33
8. Gratitude: Express thanks (be it in your mind or out loud) to the
Universe for its assistance and to your spirit – for its love.

Every time I go through this process, I am awed by its beauty and power.
I trust you felt the same too 

Practice! Learn this process by heart

as it’s integral to distance healing

Extra help visualizing

The phrase ‘using your imagination’ and the term ‘visualization’ are one
in the same to me, so use whichever term makes more sense for you. For
some, this process can be difficult, yet sometimes just changing the
terminology helps our minds get a grapple on what we’re trying to
achieve.

This “mental movie making” can be challenging at first, so try a few of

these tips to help improve your abilities:

34
Change the image: If you can’t see my white glowing waterfall in your
mind’s eye, that’s okay – what image can you imagine? Colours?
Flowers? Shapes? Something else, just change the image of what
your ideal healing source looks like and use that instead!

Recall a memory: Simply recall a wonderful memory – something

that makes you feel so good! In that moment, you ‘saw’ images in
your mind, even if fleeting!

Describe an object: Place an object in front of you, like a cup of tea

or a flower. Softly gaze at it, then close your eyes.

With your eyes closed, describe the object out loud – even though
you think you’re just speaking from memorization, you’re actually
recalling the description from your memory – which is a picture in
your mind!

Say the words instead: If none of the above tips help, just express the
words of the connection process as best you can. By saying the words
out loud, you are using a form of manifestation – even if you can’t
see it – which will help you in creating the connection for your
purpose.

Chapter Recap

 Doing the Hand Energy Exercise helps us feel the connection we

want to make with the energy around us.
 It’s okay if you can’t actually feel anything, know the energy is
there and move on.
 Use visualization to create the connection to send the healing
through.
 Creating the connection is an integral part of distance healing so
should be practiced.

Chapter 3: The Reiki distance symbol

This chapter is aimed at Reiki practitioners who are aware of the use of
symbols to help with their healing efforts. Specifically, you should be a
Reiki Level 2 practitioner (or higher) before you can use the symbol I’m
about to teach you.

If you’re a Reiki Level 1 practitioner, but aren’t attuned to Reiki Level 2

yet, please skip this section until you have achieved Level 2 or higher.

If you’re not trained in Reiki at all, please kindly skip this chapter as what
I’m sharing is a Reiki Level 2 symbol. But do not worry, there is nothing
wrong if you read about or see the symbol – its intention is rooted in love.

But since Reiki has a certain structure and flow to it, if you’re not a Reiki
Level 2 practitioner (or higher), please be respectful and do not use the
information herein.

36
The power of a Reiki symbol
Since every Reiki Master Teacher has their own take on healing, I want to
quickly explain what I teach my Reiki I, II and Master students regarding
the power of a Reiki symbol.

To me, the symbols themselves aren’t what create the power. It’s our
focus on their meaning, our intention, then the movement when we draw
and activate them, that generates and manifests its strength.

The distance symbol (Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen)

Obviously, the name says it all – this is the symbol we use when we want
to strengthen our ability to heal from a distance. Its meaning can be
interpreted as,

“The Higher Self in Me Connects to the

Higher Self in You to Promote Enlightenment
and Peace.”
In addition to being attuned to this symbol – as well as the regular
practice of meditation, self-healing, and living life by the 5 Reiki Principles
– it effectively allows us as Reiki practitioners to “power up” our
connection for distance healing.

To explain further, it bridges the gap between our consciousness and the
Universal consciousness. We use this symbol to help heal a connection to
anything 'at a distance' - whether it's a memory that grieves you, fear of
the future, a past life, or if and when someone/something is not
physically close by.

In saying this, using the symbol isn’t mandatory, nor is it always needed,
to effectively perform distance healings. But using it will enhance our
focus in maintaining that connection outlined in the previous chapter.

37
Practice! Whether drawing or
verbalising, learn this symbol

38
Draw and activate
1. After you’ve done the Hand Energy Exercise and created the
channel with the Universe,
2. Starting at #1 in the image shown, trace the line’s arrow direction
to create the first line.
3. Once complete, gently move onto point #2 and draw that line.
4. Then move onto #3, #4, and so on until you complete the full
symbol.
5. As you do this ‘air drawing’ motion, imagine seeing it drawn out
in front of you.
6. Once the symbol has been drawn, hold its image in your mind’s
eye for a moment.
7. Using your writing hand, ‘nudge’ the image of the symbol (that’s
out in front of you) toward the Universal connection you already
made.
a. This ‘nudging’ process is what I refer to as “activating” –
it’s like tapping the symbol saying “Hey, it’s time to go!”
8. Now, imagine the symbol (and its meaning) getting pulled into
the channel – and once it does – the channel gets brighter,
stronger, and more powerful.

Extra help activating

Being the most complex of all that I teach my Reiki I, II and Master
students, you might find it difficult to draw it from memory at first, and
that’s okay! It will take a bit of practice to memorise, but trust as you do
it – you will remember it from heart one day.

But while you’re learning, or if you prefer to, you can simply imagine or
say (out loud or in your mind) the actual symbol’s name instead.

If you opt to do this instead of the drawing and activating steps above,
the symbol is pronounced “haahn-shah-zee-show-nen”. And be sure to
say it three times to activate its healing power (as the words you form are
manifesting energy around its intention).

39
Chapter Recap
 The Reiki symbol “Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen” is also known as the
Distance Symbol.
 Only Reiki Level 2 (or higher) practitioners should use this symbol.
 While immensely helpful, the Distance Symbol isn’t mandatory
for distance healings.

40
Chapter 4: Preparation steps

I realise you’re probably very ready to start distance healing! But as with
all my teachings, I want to make sure you’re as best prepared as I can
possibly make you before you start shining your light!

Now, remember that energy is at the core of everybody and everything –

it’s the essential, unifying element for the universe.

As such, you must know how to start, perform, and end your sessions in
a way which allow you to be of service while not tangling yourself up with
other energies that don’t serve your greatest and highest good.

Step 1. Preparing your client

If applicable, you will want to let your recipient know that you’re going to
send distance healing to them. You ideally want a willing participant
when doing any form of healing work.

I say “ideally” only because there may be times where the receiver isn’t
conscious, or it’s something which doesn’t control its own free will (such
as a memory or a location).

41
If the recipient is conscious and able, you must always ask permission
first. And as such, prepare your client for a distance healing as follows:

 Ask permission If you have a client (or group of clients) who you
can ask permission of first, you must do this. It’s not only the right
professional conduct to undertake, but a moral one, too.
o If someone isn’t conscious or it’s not possible to ask, if
there’s a loved one of theirs you can ask – do that. If
there isn’t someone else, or it’s just not possible, still
“ask” but instead of the recipient – ask the Universe, or
their Spirit, angels, guardians, or guides. You will get a
response in some form of a positive or negative – using
your intuition here will be of great help.
o If you know someone doesn’t want help, respect them.
Even if you wish they would accept your healing, if
they’ve told you no, or you know they don’t (or wouldn’t)
want your help – you must honour their decision and not
perform healing on them.
o If it’s another type of emergency situation where you
aren’t able to ask permission, but know the person,
group, or situation desperately needs help – ask in the
same way that you would if someone “isn’t conscious or
it’s not possible to ask” (as aforementioned).
 Get comfortable If possible, ask them to be in a comfortable
setting and/or position during your healing work.
 Be open This basically means that the recipient is aware of what
you’re doing and are mentally and energetically “open” to
receiving your healing work.
o If someone isn’t “open”, meaning they don’t believe in
what you’re doing – your efforts will still help, but to less
effect.
 Be ready for detoxing As with any form of healing, chances are,
some form of “detoxing” (physical or emotional) may occur
during or afterward. If possible, be sure to explain these possible
42
effects and how to cope with them (refer to the end of this
chapter for more tips).

Exceptional or emergency clients

As with what happened to my father in 20191, where I had to perform

emergency healing2 from 13,000km away, there may be cases where you
can’t “prep” your client.

In cases like this, you are rising above any and all ego-driven desires and
are moving into the realm of being a pure spirit of service.

If you’re a family member, or are so connected that you know the

recipient would be accepting of your healing work, in a case like that –
asking permission isn’t necessary.

If you’re a close friend, or know someone who’s dealing with an

emergency situation, but you don’t know the actual person who’s been

2

43
hurt – you should first ask permission from someone who would know if
they’d be willing to accept.

Otherwise, refer to the “If someone isn’t conscious or it’s not possible to
ask” point of “Ask permission” on the previous pages.

Step 2. Calm yourself

When sending healing from a distance, it’s like you’re sending pure
energy to another. As such, it’s vital you are in a calm state of being
before you do this.

Please do not perform any form of healing if you are really upset,
agitated, or unbalanced for some reason. This includes being under the
influence of any mind-altering substances which affect your ability to act
from a place of love.

As such, if you don’t feel like you’re in a complete state of calm and
contentedness – then you take some time out, relax, and meditate.

Your surroundings
Calming yourself might actually involve removing yourself from a
44
location. Ideally you want to be somewhere that is quiet, so you can calm
and balance yourself.

Even if that is just stepping away from a crowd or going into a bathroom
– do it if possible.

Step 3. Where to place your hands

Whilst I will explain each step for every upcoming distance healing – there
may be times where you aren’t using your hands at all – and feel a little
bit like “where do I put these little guys for now?”

If you find that’s the case, simply allow your hands to rest at your side, or
on your thighs. Alternatively, if you’re fidgety, you can do the
“Contemplation Mudra” (as picture below) with your hands.

Whilst it has other functions, which I teach in my Energy Healing with

Hand Mudras course3, this Mudra is a great position to hold whenever
your hands aren’t in use.

3
https://naturalhealer.com.au/product/energy-healing-hand-mudras-course/
45
Step 4. Staying focused
Again, I will explain, step-by-step, what to focus on (through intentions)
in each distance healing chapter coming up – but you might find that your
mind will wander.

It’s perfectly fine if, while you’re doing a healing session, your mind
wanders off course. We are humans here on this planet after all! If this
happens, simply re-imagine the connection you made and your healing
purpose.

If you went way off course, then start again from the beginning from the
Hand Energy Exercise. And don’t worry – everything happens the way it’s
mean to 

Step 5. Letting go
When I refer to the process of “letting go” – for me it means doing all that
you can, then trusting in the process. I find it’s important to “let go”
whenever doing a healing (distance or in person) because we can (as ego-
driven humans) get hung up in what we want, for too long.

We don’t want our minds overthinking this process, trying to force an

outcome, or trying to bend another’s will. If that happens, our ego starts
getting bruised (things aren’t happening fast enough or as we wanted)
and we feel agitated.

That’s a negative state of being, which we don’t want to be in when doing

healing work.

To be clear, letting go isn’t about “not caring”, nor is it about forgetting

what your purpose is. It’s about letting go of expectation. The energy
healing process is about intention, hopes, and knowing the desired
outcome. But your expectation is not hung up on any of them.

Letting go of expectation means you are free and clear of ego-wants and
needs – and that is what allows your spirit to be an effective long-term
healer.
46
Step 6. Release & protect
This step is slightly different to the disconnect step in the “Create the
connection” section of Chapter 2, which closes the channel you created
with the Universe, between you and the recipient.

Releasing here is more related to your healing intention – and not the
actual channel. As such, releasing isn’t always about disconnecting, as
you may want to stay connected – like what I did in my emergency
situation with my father4.

As such, there are two forms of releasing for distance healing:

Complete release steps

This is when you want to actually cease the healing work and close the
Universal channel between you and the recipient, altogether.

For example, if you are working on healing a distant memory, or a

situation that may be charged with negativity, or when you decide your
healing efforts should come to a close.

1. Visualize: Imagine the person or thing in your mind’s eye.

o You see the healing energy between you and them
starting to soften.

4
https://naturalhealer.com.au/2020/02/surviving-tragedy
47
2. Continue Visualizing: As the energy fades, it starts to look like a
string – pulled tight – and at that point, you take a pair of ‘energy
cutting scissors’ and snip the string between you two.

3. Disconnect: Now imagine the column of radiating white light

(your channel to the Universe) start to fade and become softer.
It eventually fades away and disappears completely.

48
4. Continue Disconnecting: Start closing your hands (which have
been open), like you’re imitating closing a book.
5. Protect: Now imagine yourself being immersed in white healing
light, from head to toe.
6. Gratitude: Express thanks (be it in your mind or out loud) to the
Universe for its assistance and to your spirit – for its love.

Practice! Releasing is important step

in a healer’s self-care

Partial release steps

This is when you want a “break” from the actual healing work you’re
doing (to reserve your energy so you can rejuvenate), but you keep the
Universal channel intact – so the recipient can still feel vibrations of your
energy.

For example, if you are working on someone in an emergency situation –

but sense you should stay connected even if you’re not actively healing
them.

1. Visualize: Imagine the person or thing in your mind’s eye.

o You see the healing energy between you and them
starting to soften.
49
2. Continue Visualizing: As it fades, it starts to look like a string –
pulled tight – and at that point, you take a pair of ‘energy cutting
scissors’ and snip the string between you two.

3. Reinforce connection: Imagine the column of radiating white

light (your channel to the Universe) remaining strong, full of love
and light.
o It stays connected to the recipient, but does not actively
draw energy from your intention. However, the recipient
– like being on a telephone call, but not talking – still
knows you’re there.

50
4. Protect: Now imagine yourself being immersed in white healing
light, from head to toe. This will help rejuvenate your energy
while staying connected.
5. Gratitude: Express thanks (be it in your mind or out loud) to the
Universe for its assistance and to your spirit – for its continued
loving efforts.

When you’re ready to resume your active healing work, simply

recommence the relevant steps (which are in the upcoming chapters).

A caution about partial release

If you aren’t experienced with energy healing – I do not recommend you
do a partial release. I suggest you always do a complete release until you
are more experienced and energetically strong.

I warn against doing this for newcomers because, if you aren’t aware of
your true inner self and spirit, you can wear yourself down very quickly.

Restoring your own energy

Many people who don’t understand the power of energy (such as
inexperienced energy healers) will often pick up the ailments or
conditions of their clients, or sometimes be extremely worn out after
their session.

If you’re very tired after performing a healing session, it’s likely because
you gave your own energy to your recipient (either too much or for too
long) – as opposed to channelling the Universal Energy through you – or
you didn’t disconnect and protect properly.

Granted, it’s nearly impossible for some of your energy to not flow to your
recipient as a sort of ‘by-product’ because the Universal Energy flowing
through you will ‘catch’ a bit of yours naturally. But please do not try and
give your energy to others.

51
52
To help restore your energy:

1. Close your eyes and imagine white healing light – in the form of
mist – surrounding you.
2. It’s soft and lovely to breathe in.
3. With each breath in, you glow brighter and grow stronger.
4. With each breath out, any stagnant energy is released.
5. As you breathe this healing mist in, it goes to every corner of your
body and regenerates you from the core of each cell.

If you continue to feel worn out after sessions remember to visualize

using the steps you’ve already learned and continue to practice “Letting
Go” so you don’t use up your energy in ‘pining’ for an outcome.

Practice! This is critical for any

healer’s self-care

About spiritual detoxing (energy cleansing)

Whenever someone goes through the process of healing, be it physically,
emotionally, or spiritually – there is a good chance they’ll have a
“spiritual” or “energy” detox.

To further explain this – think of a dietary detox: if you change to eating

healthy food and drink (and your body isn’t used to that sort of
sustenance), after a few days your body will start to expel the toxins
accumulated from the old ‘bad’ diet and replace it with good
nourishment from your new diet.

During your dietary detox, you might not feel that good (as a matter of
fact, you might feel very ill) – but you know it will pass and you’ll be all
the better for it once you’ve done it.

This is pretty much what happens to the body on an energetic level when
one performs energy healing. This process can happen on a minor or
53
major scale, but completely depends on the person, the situation, or
both.

As an example, after an energy healing session, some clients might cry,

laugh or feel great peace for no “apparent” reason. Others can get really
tired or even wired. Some can get a cold, others might feel better than
they have in years! And then there are some who may not experience
anything at all.

Irrespective, the days and weeks after a session has been performed, it’s
ideal for the recipient – if possible – to do what they can to reduce toxins
(physical and mental) and increase healthy living.

Toxins would be things like smoking, drinking, eating ‘junk’ food,

overindulging, and so on.

Healthy living would be things like drinking more water, eating more fruit
and vegetables, meditating, and so on.

54
Detoxing for fragile situations
Spiritual detoxing is very much a part of the energy healing process.
However, there may be situations where someone’s spirit is very weak or
fragile and you don’t want to overwhelm them, even though your healing
will always serve their greatest and highest good (we’ll cover this –
intentions – in the upcoming healing chapters).

In cases like this, you simply send the healing in a manner which ‘matches’
their frequency. Remember, because the energy will follow the intention
you set for it, this means you can ‘adjust’ the intention to be more gentle
for a particular situation.

For example, if you send a healing to someone whose state is very

delicate (thus not able to handle a big energy detoxing shift) – you would
intend the energy to gently serve their greatest and highest good, in a
kind, soft manner which will keep them comfortable and safe.

Detoxing vs. picked up negative symptoms

To ensure you don’t confuse a detox with the picking up of negative
symptoms, remember that a Spiritual Detox is something that typically
happens to the recipient of your sessions (or to yourself if you are self-
healing – which I don’t teach in this book). Detoxing is a cleanse of
negative energy as a result of your healing efforts.

On the other hand, picking up negative energy from doing a session is not
a Spiritual Detox, but the symptoms of illness or feeling unwell from the
client which are then felt by the healer, either immediately or later on.

They are different because one is a by-product of healing (Spiritual Detox)

and the other is more like catching a 'spiritual cold' as a result of not
protecting oneself fully. The key in understanding which is which lies
within the value of the experience.

As a Spiritual Detox eases off, you feel better overall as a result. The
picking up of negative symptoms eases off too, but doesn't usually
provide any value to the healer afterward.
55
In saying this, it is possible to experience a Spiritual Detox as a result of
healing another; but if you do, it usually means you have not protected
yourself completely or haven’t intended and focused the healing session
fully on your client.

If you are self-healing, because you're intending the healing on yourself,

going through a Spiritual Detox is natural and expected. But if you're
healing another, the detox should be felt (if any) by your client, not you.

Wow, we’ve covered quite a lot of preparatory material to now! So it’s

time to harmonise everything together into the actual steps of distance
healing!

Chapter Recap

 It’s important to obtain permission whenever possible, before

performing a healing.
 Calming yourself and staying focused is key to keeping the
healing intention and connection strong.
 Letting go, releasing, protecting, and restoring ensures we as
healers stay safe.
 Spiritual detoxing (energy cleansing) is a common result of
energy healing, but not everyone experiences it.

56
Chapter 5: Distance healing – one person (or
single recipient)

As you learn my steps, I want to remind that the process should be used
as a guide for you. Even though it’s step-by-step, they’re not exact for
every situation nor mandatory. They’re here so you can learn to practice
the motions.

But keep in mind, if you find you prefer to do things another way – as long
as it comes from a place of love and feels right – then please follow your
heart and do it!

1. Prepare your client: This is going through all the steps you
learned in a previous chapter, including:
a. Ask permission, where possible
b. Ensure they’re comfortable
c. Ask them to be open
d. Be ready for detoxing
2. Relax: Calm yourself
3. Feel: Do the hand energy exercise (if needed)
4. Connect: Go through the steps to create the connection with
Universe so your channel is ready to transmit your healing.
57
5. [ Reiki Practitioners only ]: Draw and activate the Distance
symbol (Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen).
6. Intentions: It’s time to set the intention for your healing.
a. For this step, put your hands in a prayer position (or in a
way which you are comfortable with), with your eyes
closed.
b. Then visualize the recipient and say – either in your
mind or aloud – one of the following intentions (or
something similar):
i. “Please allow this healing to serve [insert
recipient name] greatest and highest good”
ii. “Take this loving energy to bolster the healing
for [insert recipient name]”
iii. “Use this healing energy to strengthen
[recipient’s name]’s [issue/ailment]”
c. If a person or situation is very fragile, you can add in the
following,
i. “…in a gentle and kind manner which will keep
them safe and comfortable before, during and
afterward”
7. Heal: With the intention fresh in your mind, imagine it
morphing into pure white, healing light. As it does, it glides into
the loving energy between your hands – which starts to glow
brighter.
8. Heal: Move your hands upward to signal to the intention-
infused, loving healing energy that it’s now time to move up the
Universal channel for its journey.
9. Transmit: The Universal channel now takes your healing work
and transmits it instantaneously to where it needs to be – with
immense speed and great effect.

58
10. Let go: It’s now time to kick any ego expectations to the curb
and trust your heart – and this process – from here on out.
11. Focus: Imagine the recipient being gently engulfed in the most
comforting and healing blanket of love (you can imagine this as
white or gold light, stars, hearts – whatever resonates with you).
a. If you can feel love from your heart while doing this,
please do!
b. If your mind wanders off this image, that’s okay! Just
refocus back on the recipient glowing brightly in their
blanket of love.
c. [ Reiki Practitioners only ]: At this point, if you feel
drawn to – you can work on all, or just particular
Chakras; and/or draw and activate appropriate Reiki
symbols to further bolster your healing work.

59
12. Relax: Make sure you’re not ‘tense’ now. Rest your eyes, neck
and shoulders. Don’t forget to allow your hands to rest naturally
or do the ‘Contemplation’ hand mudra.
13. Release & protect: Go through the steps of releasing and
protecting yourself.
a. Partial release note: Only do a “partial release” if it’s
essential, and be sure to rest and restore as much as
possible for as long as the Universal channel is intact.
14. Restore: Go through the steps so you rejuvenate your spirit’s
energy reserves.
15. Gratitude: Express gratitude for the healing working exactly as
it’s meant to, for the Universal channel, and for your good
heart.

Practice! This is a beautiful process

that gets easier with repetition

60
Timing: The duration of a distance healing session can vary greatly
because it’s so dependent upon who the recipient is and their unique
situation. But to start, you can expect to spend anywhere between 15-
minutes up to an hour – or shorter or longer.

Don’t judge yourself on ‘clock’ time here – again, just follow your heart
and what feels right – and the session will unfold exactly as it’s meant to!

Specific physical issues

If your recipient has very specific physical issues, you can add that into
your intentions at Step 6. Then in Step 11 move your loving energy to
that specific location. And once you do that, the blanket of love around
that area gets brighter and stronger.

Then you see, in your mind’s eye, the recipient feeling more comfort and
ease in that area – as though the ailment has completely resolved itself.

61
Specific emotional issues
If you’re helping a particular emotional issue, you can add that into your
intentions at Step 6. Then at Step 11, your blanket of love glows brighter
and stronger overall.

Then you see, in your mind’s eye, an image of the recipient expressing
happiness and other positive emotions – as though their problem has
been completely resolved.

During an emergency
If there’s an emergency situation unfolding, or if one’s just happened, all
the previous steps will be of great service to the recipient during the
situation. However, I want to point out that emergency situations are
always ‘loaded’ with intensity, stress, fear – and sometimes anger.

As such, you need to ensure you regularly ‘take stock’ of how you’re
feeling – be aware of your inner-balance and calm – so you don’t end up
taking on negative energy. Or if you do, make sure to take a ‘time-out’ to
re-balance yourself and ‘shake’ it off.

Also, please include those who are directly assisting and helping your
recipient into your gratitude expression – it will send them good energy,
too!

62
First aid first
If you happen to be present when an emergency develops, and are able
and willing to do First Aid, do not do energy healing over First Aid -
always do First Aid first – until help arrives.

Then once help arrives, or if you are not the one administering First Aid,
you can start performing your distance healing – as it will most definitely
help the person’s energy and spirit, even if they don't feel it, no matter
the type of injury.

The unconscious
If you know, or think, the recipient of your distance healing is unconscious
(so not awake), it’s important to follow the steps of getting permission
from their loved ones, or if none are present – the recipient’s spirit.
Please refer to the steps in Chapter 4.

The gravely ill

There could be situations where the recipient is on the cusp of crossing
back to the light – to our source. If you’re able to maintain your balance
during this time, still use the distance healing steps, but insert soothing
and comforting transitional support in Step 6. This could be saying things
like,

 “You are so loved and we will accept the next step in your
journey”
 “Go where your heart is leading you, we will be fine – and will
continue to love you in your new form”

You can then use Step 11 as a way to help them feel comfort and love
during their transition, as opposed to specifically ‘healing’ them in our
earthly realm. It can soothe and ease them – and you – during this difficult
time.

Once you’ve disconnected from the distance healing and Universal

channel, please remember to allow yourself to express your true emotion
63
– and cry if you need to.

By allowing yourself to openly express any sadness you feel, you are
letting your spirit exhale. Because you’re not ‘holding’ onto any negative
emotions, this means your spirit will be lighter – so when you make the
next connection – you will be more able to feel the loving connection with
the person more easily.

The spirit

No matter how prepared we think we are, when a loved one does finally
go back to the light, we are going to feel a flood of emotion. This emotion
is usually in direct proportion to how much we loved – and still love.

While I encourage you to allow yourself to truly feel those emotions – the
sadness, the grief, the confusion – in order for you to be able to connect
with your loved one after they’ve gone back to the light, you mustn’t hold
onto those negative emotions for too long.

Feel them when they arise, but do not linger in them. Try to keep yourself
from going back and revisiting the negative. Try not to use those negative
64
emotions as a shield for your heart, because that shield will keep you
from feeling the love of the one you are missing.

Remember, we are all energy – and they are still here – they’ve just
changed forms (as science has even proved to us in the Law of
Conservation of Energy).

As such, when you get to Step 6 in your distance healing with someone
who has passed, your intention could be something like,

 “I love and miss you, but I accept what is – and your new form”
 “I’m honoured you allowed me to be a part of your life, please
honour me by still being part of mine”
 “As I release my grief, please let me feel your love as I open a
place in my heart for you”

You can then use Step 11 as a way to connect with them. Because they
have reunited with our source – and are pure loving energy now – so the
comfort created here is more for you than them.

Also, be open and prepared to feel the connection between you and your
loved one. The lighter your spirit gets from releasing your grief – the more
able you will be to know, feel, and accept them in their new form.

Trust in this ♥

65
Chapter 6: Distance healing a group

The steps for healing a group (more than a single recipient) are very
similar to what you’ve already learned, but I highly suggest you refrain
from performing groups sessions until (or unless) you’ve had quite a bit
of experience with singular distance healings first.

I say this because attuning groups (especially larger ones of more than
ten or fifteen), especially in extreme circumstances, means you need to
be able to handle the possible energy thrust or flux that might occur from
it and be able to recognise and disconnect from any negativity that may
be surrounding the group.

So if you're new to energy healing, please practice singular sessions for

now and only progress to groups once you’ve experienced and handled
enough sessions to understand the wide variety of sensations – from a
distance and within yourself – that may come your way.

Again, remember the following is a guide for you to practice with. If you
prefer doing things another way – as long as it comes from a place of love
and feels right – follow that feeling!

66
1. Prepare your clients: It’s always important to prepare your
clients whenever possible, so if the group is expecting your
healing, be sure to:
a. Ask permission
i. If the group isn’t expecting the healing (for
example, it’s an emergency event), refer to the
appropriate step in the “Ask permission”
section note in Chapter 4.
b. Ensure they’re comfortable
i. Again, if the group isn’t expecting the healing,
this step, being open, and ready for detoxing
might not be possible.
c. Ask them to be open
d. Be ready for detoxing
2. Relax: Calm yourself
3. Feel: Do the hand energy exercise (if needed)
4. Connect: Go through the steps to create the connection with
Universe so your channel is ready to transmit your healing.
5. [ Reiki Practitioners only ]: Draw and activate the Distance
symbol (Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen).
6. Intentions: It’s time to set the intention for your healing.
a. For this step, put your hands in a prayer position (or in a
way which you are comfortable with), with your eyes
closed.
b. Then visualize the group. If you can, try to imagine the
face of each person in your mind’s eye.
i. If you can’t imagine each person, that’s okay! If
you know them, it will be just as effective to just
say each of their names.
ii. If you don’t know their names, imagine a group
of people standing within a protective ball of
white light. Because they’re encompassed in
this white light, you can’t see exactly who they
67
are, but you know they’re the ones who need
your help.
c. Then say – either in your mind or aloud – one of the
following intentions (or something similar):
i. “Please allow this healing to serve [insert
appropriate name for the group] greatest and
highest good”
ii. “Take this loving energy to bolster the healing
for [insert appropriate name for the group]”
iii. “Use this healing energy to strengthen [insert
appropriate name for the group]’s
[issue/situation] in a positive way”
d. If the group or situation is very fragile, you can add in
the following,
10. Let go: It’s now time to kick any ego expectations to the curb
and trust your heart – and this process – from here on out.
11. Focus: Imagine the group being gently engulfed in the most
comforting and healing blanket of love (you can imagine this as
white or gold light, stars, hearts – whatever resonates with you).

68
a. If you can feel love from your heart while doing this,
please do!
b. If your mind wanders off this image, that’s okay! Just
refocus back on the group glowing brightly in their
blanket of love.
c. [ Reiki Practitioners only ]: At this point, if you feel
drawn to – you can work on all, or just particular
Chakras; and/or draw and activate appropriate Reiki
symbols to further bolster your healing work.
12. Relax: Make sure you’re not ‘tense’ now. Rest your eyes, neck
and shoulders. Don’t forget to allow your hands to rest naturally
or do the ‘Contemplation’ hand mudra.
13. Release & protect: Go through the steps of releasing and
protecting yourself.
a. Partial release note: Always do a full release when
working with groups. I do not recommend a “partial
release” for these sort of healings given they can be
energetically overwhelming for the healer.
14. Restore: Go through the steps so you rejuvenate your spirit’s
energy reserves.
15. Gratitude: Express gratitude for the healing working exactly as
it’s meant to, for the Universal channel, and for your good
heart.

Practice! Group sessions take

practice, be gentle with yourself

Timing: The duration of a distance healing session can vary greatly

because it’s so dependent upon who’s receiving the healing and the
circumstances they’re under. But to start, you can expect to spend
anywhere between 15-minutes up to an hour – or shorter or longer.

69
Remember, don’t judge yourself on ‘clock’ time here – just follow your
heart and what feels right – and the session will go exactly as it should!

To deal with specifics of physical or emotional issues, emergencies, the

unconscious, the gravely ill, or the spirit – please refer back to the notes
I provided in Chapter 5.

70
Chapter 7: Distance healing an event or location

Similar to what I mentioned for group sessions, performing event or

location healings can be loaded with negative energy and overwhelming
for those inexperienced healing practitioners.

As such, if you're new to energy healing, please practice singular sessions

– then group sessions – before you progress to these situational type of
healings.

I strongly stand behind this recommendation because when attuning

events or locations, especially when severe, there is a compounding of
negative energy around what’s happening: the negative energy from the
event itself plus all the fearful energy from those who are affected by it.

As such, you need to be an experienced healer to understand how to

identify, cope and handle the energy thrust or flux that will likely occur
from it and be able to recognise, disconnect, and restore from any of its
negativity effects.
71
This type of wisdom only comes with real world practice – you cannot get
this sort of intuitive knowledge from theory. So please, only progress if
you are an experienced healer and have a thorough and strong sense of
self when doing healing sessions.

As with all my healing steps, remember that this is a guide for you to
practice with. If you feel drawn to perform a session differently – as long
as it comes from a place of love and feels right – go for it!

1. Ask permission: It’s always important to prepare recipients

whenever possible, depending on what the situation is – you
might want to ask either the Sky, Wind, Ocean, Earth, Universe,
or your own Spirit, angels, guardians, and/or guides. You will get
a response in some form of a positive or negative – use your
intuition.
6. Intentions: It’s time to set the intention for your healing.
a. For this step, put your hands in a prayer position (or in a
way which you are comfortable with), with your eyes
closed.
b. Visualize the event or location, then say – either in your
mind or aloud – one of the following intentions (or
something similar):
i. “Please allow this healing to serve [insert
appropriate name for the situation] greatest
and highest good”
ii. “Take this loving energy to bolster the healing
for [insert appropriate name for the situation]”

72
iii. “Use this healing energy to [insert appropriate
word like – calm, stop, resolve] the [insert
appropriate name for the situation]”
c. Important! While you’re visualizing the situation – see
the preferred outcome and take a mental “snapshot” of
what that looks like.
i. For example, if it’s of a flooded village – see the
village restored and dry with the sun shining; or
if it’s of raging fires – see friendly rain clouds
arriving, then pouring down to put the flames
out.
d. If the event is precarious, you can add in the following,
i. “…in a gentle and kind manner which will keep
all those affected safe and comfortable before,
during and afterward”
7. Heal: With the intention fresh in your mind – including the
“snapshot” of the preferred outcome, imagine it morphing into
pure white, healing light. As it does, it glides into the loving
energy between your hands – which starts to glow brighter.
10. Let go: It’s now time to kick any ego expectations to the curb
and trust your heart – and this process – from here on out.
11. Focus: Imagine the event or location being gently engulfed in
the most calming and healing blanket of love (you can imagine
this as white or gold light, stars, hearts, rain, sun – whatever
resonates with you).
a. If you can feel love from your heart while doing this,
please do!
73
b. If your mind wanders off this image, that’s okay! Just
refocus back on the situation glowing brightly in its
blanket of love.
c. [ Reiki Practitioners only ]: At this point, if you feel
drawn to – you can draw and activate appropriate Reiki
symbols to further bolster your healing work.
12. Relax: Make sure you’re not ‘tense’ now. Rest your eyes, neck
and shoulders. Don’t forget to allow your hands to rest naturally
or do the ‘Contemplation’ hand mudra.
13. Release & protect: Go through the steps of releasing and
protecting yourself.
a. Partial release note: Always do a full release when
working with events or locations. I do not recommend a
“partial release” for these sort of healings given they
can be energetically overwhelming for the healer.
14. Restore: Go through the steps so you rejuvenate your spirit’s
energy reserves.
15. Gratitude: Express gratitude for the healing working exactly as
it’s meant to, for the Universal channel, and for your good
heart.

Timing: This sort of distance healing session can last a few minutes to
many hours – it’s really dependent upon the situation and the level of
energy you can provide to it. To start, expect to spend anywhere between
15-minutes up to an hour – or shorter or longer as it warrants.

Again, don’t “time” judge yourself – just follow your heart and what feels
right – and the session will go perfectly!

Practice! The more you practice, the

better you will become

74
Chapter 8: Distance healing the past or future

When working with memories of the past or future hopes and dreams –
whether distant, recent, or imminent – what we’re really dealing with is
our own internal emotional blockages.

As such, it’s key to remember that – even if you’re focus is for someone
or something else – what you’re doing is healing the connection you have
with that memory or dream, as well as the energy that surrounds it.

You are not literally “changing” the past or “magically” willing an event
to happen a specific way, but you are changing your perception about
and around it. In this way, you help ease and release negative blocks that
are keeping you from inner peace, or your goals, or both.

Distance healing the past or future is about allowing your energy to finally
75
follow the path it’s meant to. Then from there, what’s meant to happen
for your greatest and highest good, will happen.

To be clear, you cannot use this process to make someone change their
mind, or to fall in love with you, or have someone forgive you – this is not
about bending another’s will to your own.

But what this can and will do is allow yourself to let go – so you can
release your ego, allow love into your heart, and truly forgive yourself.

Once again, these steps are merely a guide for you to practice with. If you
want to do it differently – as long as it comes from a place of love and
feels right – please do!

1. Prepare yourself: This is going through all the steps you learned
in a previous chapter about preparing your client – but this
time, the client is you!
a. Ask permission – this could be asking your younger self
for permission, the memory of someone, and so on.
b. Ensure you’re comfortable
c. Be open to the process
6. Intentions: It’s time to set the intention for your healing.
a. For this step, put your hands in a prayer position (or in a
way which you are comfortable with), with your eyes
closed.
b. Then visualize the memory or thought, then say – either
in your mind or aloud – one of the following intentions
(or something similar):
76
i. “Please allow this healing to serve [insert
appropriate name] greatest and highest good”
ii. “Take this loving energy to bolster the healing
for [insert appropriate name]”
iii. “Use this healing energy to [insert appropriate
word like – forgive, heal, let go of] the [insert
appropriate name for the memory or thought]”
c. Important! While you’re visualizing the memory or
thought – see it for what it is, and even if it isn’t your
preferred outcome – forgive yourself, the person, or
the situation – even if you didn’t like or agree with it.
Forgiveness is not agreeing with or condoning whatever
happened (or what you think is going to happen) – it’s
allowing you to let go of the negative energy that’s
enslaving you to the past or future.
d. If the memory or thought is very sensitive, you can add
in the following,
i. “…in a gentle and kind manner which will keep
me safe and comfortable before, during and
afterward”
7. Heal: With the intention fresh in your mind – stamp the word
“forgiveness” on it and see it all morphing into pure white,
healing light. As it does, it glides into the loving energy between
your hands – which starts to glow brighter.
10. Let go: It’s now time to kick any ego expectations to the curb
and trust your heart – and this process – from here on out.

77
11. Focus: Imagine the memory or future thought being gently
engulfed in the most calming and healing blanket of love (you
can imagine this as white or gold light, stars, hearts – whatever
resonates with you).
a. If you can feel love from your heart while doing this,
please do!
b. If your mind wanders off this image, that’s okay! Just
refocus back on the memory or thought glowing
brightly in its blanket of love.
13. Release & protect: Go through the steps of releasing and
protecting yourself.
a. Partial release note: Always do a full release when
working on memories or future thoughts because they
are so close within you (your mind) you do not want
yourself ‘chasing’ after it – you’ll wear yourself out!
14. Restore: Go through the steps so you rejuvenate your spirit’s
energy reserves.
15. Gratitude: Express gratitude for the healing working exactly as
it’s meant to, for the Universal channel, and for your good
heart.

Practice! This process can be hard at

first, but it’s worth persevering

78
Timing: This sort of healing session is great in longer time increments,
because it’s a deeper form of self-healing. But to give you an estimate
time frame to work with, you can spend anywhere between 15-minutes
up to an hour – or shorter or longer as needed.

As always, just follow your heart and what feels right – and the session
will go perfectly!

79
Chapter 9: Other distance tools

We’ve covered a significant amount of information up to now and you

have all the essentials to help others, near or far! In saying this, I’d like to
share a few more tools to help you in your healing journey!

How do I know a session went well?

As you practice more and more, you will naturally feel comfortable and
content that a session went well. Furthermore, your client will usually tell
you how it went, so you’ll get feedback one way or another.

But when you’re new to energy healing, it might be difficult to gauge if

your sessions are effective, so try this little handy tip as a way to help see
your progress with clients (this is also great when working with the past
or future):

Ask your client before the session begins, on a scale between 1 to 10

(1 being the least, 10 being the most) how they feel.

For example, if they’re angry or very sad – they may say 9 out of 10
80
for intensity. Or perhaps they’re unmotivated and uninspired, they
may say 2 out of 10 for how excited they are by life.

Note this number down along with what it references (such as

“sadness” or “feeling anger towards spouse”) so you can refer to it
later.

After the session, ask your client again how they’re now feeling in
relation to the issue, again on a scale between 1 to 10.

Now compare their new number to what they initially said and
discuss the improvement or experience with them.

For situations or events, you should be able to measure your effect by

monitoring its progress.

And with any memories or future thoughts, refer to the above number
ranking tip when doing it, if possible. Otherwise, refer back to your inner
self to how you feel when you bring the thought into your mind – if you
feel better than before, it’s working!

Crystals for distance

There are a wide variety of beautiful crystals that can help enhance
distance healing efforts. Whilst this isn’t a crystal course, I want to at least
let you know about a few key healing stones that can add more “fuel” to
your healing session!

Transmitter booster
If it resonates with you, having a ‘transmitter’ quartz crystal will help
send distance healings more easily, as it aids in the “transmission”
process. It also enhances thought connection, meaning it can improve
one’s ability to communicate with another through space and time.

Transmitter crystals are shaped like a ‘complicated’ crystal point in that it

has two 7-sided facets which end up created two perfect triangles
between them.

81
The shape of a transmitter is a hard thing to describe, so please refer to
my image:

To use it, just keep your transmitter crystal on or close to you when doing
your distance healings.

Higher realm connectors

The following crystals, while not exhaustive, all help you connect to
higher consciousness, higher realms, and the Universe:

 Angelite
82
 Apophyllite
 Danburite
 Lilac kunzite (specifically helps the transition for those passing
or who have just passed back to the light)

It’s ideal to have one or more of these stones on, or close to, you before
and during a distance healing.

Energy healing amplifiers

This short list of crystals are especially great for amplifying, boosting and
super-charging the energy for a healing session:

 Clear quartz
 Phantom quartz (has a hazy ‘body’ within the clear quartz itself)
 Blue fluorite
 Phenacite

Keep one (or more) of these crystals on or close to you while doing your
distance healing.

Protection and grounding

These healing stones are perfect for distance healings, especially for
those which are heavily charged with emotions:

 Malachite
 Hematite
 Chlorite
 Flourite

Having one of these crystals on or close to you while doing your distance
healing – and in particular when releasing – is ideal.

If you’re keen to learn a bit more about healing with stones, you might
be interested in taking my Science of Crystal Healing course5 

Pendulums for answers

The use of pendulums can assist energy healers with getting more clear
and precise answers when doing distance healings – particularly when
working with those who are not conscious, those who have passed,
memories or the future, or for any other session where ‘getting answers’
might be more difficult.

Whilst this course isn’t focused on teaching you how to use a pendulum
– in a simple nutshell:

1. When doing a healing session, hold a pendulum out in front of

you, and establish a certain direction or movement that indicates
a “yes” or “no” answer.
a. For example, clockwise means “yes”, counter-clockwise
means “no”.
2. Without moving the pendulum yourself, ask one question.
3. Patiently wait and see which way the pendulum moves – and
that’s your answer!

84
4. If the pendulum moves erratically or doesn’t follow your
established “yes” or “no” pattern – you may have asked in a way
that it cannot answer with a “yes” or “no”; you may have moved
it yourself, thus interfering with the answer; or it’s not an answer
you are privy to.
a. You might want to try again, otherwise respect it’s not
meant to be for now.

Sound for balancing

It goes without saying that listening to soft meditation music will help
calm you, thus better prepare you for distance healing sessions.

If you don’t already have a favourite meditation artist or song, or you

don’t have a lot of time to get yourself balanced, my “2 Minutes with Your
Sacred Self” meditation is a great tool to use for your healing efforts:
https://youtu.be/KBTDdFkicDw

Also, sound can be a trigger for memories and feelings, making it a great
way for you to bolster a positive feeling – almost on demand! As such,
thinking of a song or sound that always makes you smile or feel good –
and keeping it handy is a good idea.

That way, when you’re getting ready to do a healing session, if you need
a quick ‘fix’ to get your emotions and feelings more up-vibe, play that
song or sound!

Lastly, specific sounds can help with the transmission of healing efforts.
In particular using singing bowls or meditation mantras. I won’t go deeper
into this other than letting you know those options are available.

85
Aromas for balancing

In the same way that sound can help us balance ourselves, so can smells!
Whether it’s using essential oils, incense, or something else, aromas can
impact our mood quite drastically.

I’m not going to teach you about aromatherapy or essential oils for
healing in this course, but if you are the kind of person who’s mood can
be shifted with a lovely scent, keep them handy whenever you plan on
doing a healing session.

Photos or keepsakes
Even though this isn’t a necessity, using a photo or keepsake related to
(or associated with) the recipient of your healing is a great way for you to
strengthen your connection. It’s especially helpful for those who find
visualizing or focusing difficult.

What’s more, if you write down the name of the person (or people, or
situation) and the loving intention – and keep it within your view during
your session – it can help you shift the energy towards the desired
86
outcome. How so?

Because you’ve started the manifestation process at the quantum level

by turning the thought into a written physical thing. I teach detailed
manifesting processes in my Real Manifesting: Hacking the Law of
Attraction certification course, if that’s of interest to you!

Location information
Similar to what a photo or keepsake does, knowing the location of the
recipient can be a helpful tool for distance healing. Again, it’s not a
requirement, but a good tool for those who need a hand with
visualization and focus.

Write down the actual location – even the exact physical address if you
have it – and it will bolster the transmission of the healing.

Technology note

I personally don’t like to use any extra electronics when doing distance
healings. From my point of view, there is already so much magnetic and
electronic ‘noise’ around me, that I don’t want to add another device into
the mix.
87
As such, I do all my distance sessions with as little outside energy
contamination as possible – the most minimal lighting and a singular
source of music.

In saying this, what’s good for me isn’t necessarily what you should do,
nor good for you. So if connecting with someone using a smartphone,
Facetime, Facebook Messenger, Skype – or something else – helps you
with the distance healing process, then please feel free to use them!

88
Chapter 10: Taking care

As you know, I spent a bit of time with you in Chapter 4 going over
preparation and protection steps. Not only do I want to remind you of
those processes now that we’re nearing the end of our journey together
– I also want to remind you how important it is for you to take care of
yourself.

This means that if, at any time, you ever feel unwell before, during, or
after a distance healing session – to stop. Get some rest, ensure you’re
getting enough fresh water and healthy food, and take a break from the
healing work you’re doing for a little while.

Feeling poorly is your “spiritual house’s” (my term for your physical body)
way of signalling to you, “Hey, something’s not right!” so listen to it! If
you continue to feel ‘off’, then ensure you seek professional medical
advice immediately.

In saying this, as long as you are getting the proper rest and nutrition –
and follow my preparation steps – your distance healing sessions will be
motivational and inspiring, and even healing for you!

But nothing is worth risking your health, so if you don’t feel right, be sure
to take care of yourself first! Remember – you cannot help others if you
cannot help yourself!

89
Chapter 11: Implementing into a business

To be able to implement what you’ve learned into a service offering for

the public, the first thing you must do is become certified to do it. Then
you have to ensure you’ve taken the right steps to set up a business in
your state or country, and get the appropriate insurance coverage.

But if you’re reading this book to learn distance healing for personal use
only, there's no need to become certified - but the following information
may be helpful for you anyway!

Organising a distance session

Everyone will operate their business differently, and in a way which suits
them best. However, I’ll quickly recap a few business ideas to help you
organise your distance healing sessions now!

 Bookings – As with any service-based business, it’s important to

try and book a date and time frame when doing a distance
session. This goes hand-in-hand with getting permission.
o I say “time frame” instead of an “exact” time because I
like to allow ‘buffer’ space around my sessions, in case I
feel the need to meditate longer or do more during the
session. Obviously, this isn’t required for emergency
situations or sessions that don’t require scheduling with
the other party.

90
 Client intake form – Always get your clients, where possible, to
complete an intake form prior to their session being performed.
You’re welcome to download my client intake form here:
https://bit.ly/2Jr3SHw (.docx) and edit as you require.
 Note-taking or recording – As you already know, I don’t use
electronic devices during my distance healing sessions – but I’m
an avid note-taker! I take notes because I always provide a
summary of the session, my findings/observations, and possible
suggestions afterward. This is where I also include information
about how to take care in case a spiritual detoxing occurs.
o You’re welcome to download, edit, and use my Client
“note pad” form here: https://bit.ly/33UsCRW (.docx)
o If you prefer to record your sessions, or to do them “live”
(like on Facetime, Skype, Zoom, or Messenger) – that is
perfectly fine! You might want to consider recording the
session so you can provide a copy to your client. Or at
least take notes and send to them afterward so they
haven’t something to refer to later.
 Payment – If you’re performing sessions for a fee, it’s a good idea
to ensure your clients understand the cost and how to pay (like
Paypal, bank deposit, or similar) – prior to it being performed.
Similar doing in-person sessions, clients don’t normally go home
until they’ve made payment, so if you don’t collect your fee
upfront, ensure your client understands your payment terms
beforehand (such as “payment upon services rendered”,
“payment within 7 days” and so on).

If you want to learn more about how to brainstorm, start and grow an
energy healing business, you might want to think about taking my
Infinitely Gracious Business Owner course6!

91
Charging for distance healings
I will only touch on this topic briefly, as existing Reiki and energy healers
will already have a schedule of fees for their services. But keep in mind
that no matter where you price this on your menu, there is no right or
wrong.

My only suggestion for distance healing is that – given they are done
remotely, thus won’t require the healer to perform it in a retail space –
consider a lower price-point. Of course, if you’re doing multiple people
or groups, that takes more time. So in instances like that, it might be a
higher price-point.

Also, if you're new to doing distance healing sessions, you might consider
doing a few for "free" in exchange for testimonials so that you (1) get the
hang of doing them and (2) are able to show prospective clients what
others thought about their session with you.

In short, charging for distance healing all comes down to how you feel,
what you put into your sessions, what your clientele is willing to pay, as
well as what your clients get out of it.

Getting insured
For those who become certified and decide to practice distance healing
professionally, just like any business dealing with the public, you should
look into obtaining Liability Insurance to ensure you’re covered for
unlikely mishaps.

Because every state and country has its own laws, it’s important to do
due diligence here and look into what qualifications and/or memberships
you’ll need to obtain insurance in your area.

Some states and countries require additional qualifications in order for

energy healers to actually practice, so please make sure to research this
first (I touch on this point in the next section, too).

To start, simply contact the business registration department of your

92
local governing council, as well as a respected insurance company. Advise
them of your business intentions and they’ll let you know what’s required
in order to start and get insured.

Existing Reiki practitioners and energy healers who are already working
with the public, just contact your current insurer to see if you need to add
“distance” or “remote” energy healing work to the services you’re
covered for, or if it’s already covered by your policy.

For those enrolled in the corresponding course to this book, my

certification will allow you to obtain insurance coverage in Australia and
the USA, just refer to the relevant lecture in the Student Platform.

For enrolled students outside of Australia and USA, my certification will

still allow you to obtain coverage, but as mentioned, check with your local
regulations first in case additional requirements need to be met.

Important small print

For those who plan on practicing distance healing in a professional
capacity, please review the below carefully. But if you’re purely learning
this beautiful healing art for personal use, feel free to skip this section.

Laws & regulations in your area

Depending on where you live – there may be certain laws regulating
energy healers. For example, some States in the U.S.A. require energy
healers to be a Licensed Massage Therapist in order to practice.

I highly recommend you contact your local Massage Board, or Natural

Therapy regulating body, to find out more to avoid any issues.

Furthermore, although you are using your natural abilities to help others
heal, it’s very important you do not make any claims that you can ‘cure’
a disease or illness. The strictness of this will vary depending on where
you’re located in the world.

As an example: in the U.S.A., the American Medical Association controls

93
certain terms, such as “diagnose”, “prescribe”, “recommend” and
“advise” – when used in a healing capacity – whereby those words can
only be used by licensed medical doctors. That means using those terms
are illegal if you’re practicing in the U.S.A. or its territories, unless you’re
legally allowed to do so.

But please, don’t let all this unsettle you – remember, you are part of the
natural and holistic healing world, not the medical industry.

There is nothing illegal about helping others stay healthy and heal
themselves through their own natural abilities. You will have a wonderful
career as an energy healer, just as long as you follow your local laws and
do not allege to cure diseases.

Chapter 12: Getting certified and gratitude

While you’ve learned all the steps to effectively perform distance healing
sessions, I want to be clear that finishing this book doesn’t ‘certify’ you to
practice in a professional capacity.

Not being ‘certified’ doesn’t reduce the validity or efficacy of what you’ve
learned here, you just cannot present yourself as a certified in distance
healing to others without proper certification.

To obtain my custom Natural Healer™ Reiki Distance Healing Specialist

(or my Distance Energy Healing Specialist) certificate, simply enrol in my

you’ll be able to access all the lectures and progress towards certification.

And it’s only with the addition of a beautiful soul like yours, that allows
us to keep weaving and wrapping this world in endless love.

For that, for you, for our entire world - I am forever humbled and forever
grateful for. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Please keep practicing, go at your own pace, do not to judge yourself or

others, do what feels right – and keep shining! #biglove
