Maxwell Fairman, age 14, is in the 9th Grade Honors Program at Walnut Hills High School.

Maxwell was inspired to play violin by his great granduncle Grady Johnson at 3 years old. He
began playing violin at four years old and currently studies with Marion Peraza de Webb.
Maxwell made his White House debut with string quartet The Perfect Fourth in front of First
Lady Michelle Obama in 2016. The next year, the Perfect Fourth played with Black Violin in
Anaheim, CA. Maxwell performed again with Black Violin at Cincinnati’s Aronoff in 2017.
Maxwell opened the 2017-2018 Chamber Music Cincinnati season with a solo performance at
Memorial Hall. In 2016, he had the honor of an onstage Cincinnati Music Hall performance
during the Classical Roots concert featuring Common. He performed a solo in the 2017
Classical Roots. He was the Concertmaster during a Classical Roots performance in 2018.
Maxwell won 1st in the 2017 Encore-Clermont Philharmonic Concerto Competition and Junior
Division of the OMTA Pre-College State Buckeye Competition and 2nd in the 13 and under
category for the 2016 and 2017 Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra Competitions and
the 2018 American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition Junior Division. He also
won Unanimous Superior Ratings in the 2017 Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Festival for Solo,
Concerto, Music Theory, and Ensemble and in 2018 for Solo, Concerto, Music Theory, and Sight
Reading, the 2016, 2017, and 2018 Norman E. Johns Chair Awards, 2017 and 2018 Sphinx
Connect Fellowships, acceptance into the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO)
Nouveau Pre-Conservatory Program, and a full scholarship to the 2018 Interlochen Strings
Summer Program. During the summer, Maxwell participated in Center Stage Strings 2018,
earning a live televised solo, Interlochen Intermediate Concert Orchestra 2018 as
Concertmaster, Sphinx Performance Academy 2016 and 2017, Cincinnati Young Artists Chamber
Music Festival 2016, 2017, and 2018, and Encore Advanced Chamber Orchestra 2016 and 2017.
Maxwell is also an active member of CSYO Concert Orchestra, CSYO Nouveau Chamber Players,
and the Peraza Music Workshop, who won the Washington DC Festival of Gold in 2016 and
2018 and played in Carnegie Hall in 2017. During his free time, Maxwell hangs out with friends,
runs, and plays video games.
