In the formation of the city, quite simply, it starts in the colonial period where the headquarters of
Fazenda Pombal was located, owned by Ângelo Gazzola. It was founded in 1905 by Carlos Botelho,
Secretary of Agriculture of the State of São Paulo, through the decree that instituted the Colonial
Nucleus Nova Odessa, in the lands acquired from Fazenda Pombal, and thus the city arose.
In its cultural traditions, the Festa das Nações stands out, which brings together assistance entities from
the municipality, which set up typical tents with food and cultural events from eleven countries.
Also noteworthy is the Nova Folia party, which is a kind of free popular street carnival in Nova Odessa,
which rescues the healthy tradition of playing the 'Momo revelry', gathering families and adding
traditional cultural attractions.
In music, there is a choir in the city of Nova Odessa that has existed for 12 years and is a reference in
the city and region. Rehearsals take place on Mondays, starting at 7 pm, in the City Hall.
In art there is the famous Helena Barufaldi School of Arts in which they teach advertising drawings,
artistic drawings, manga, photographs, etc.
Among the places to visit stands out the Plantarum Botanical Garden, Museum of the Animal Science
Institute and Nova Odessa International Karting Circuit.
It is worth mentioning a curiosity that its founder paid a visit to the city of Odessa, in Ukraine, from
where he brought the style of its streets and gave the city its name: “Nova Odessa”.
