final quarter of university in the spring of 2021. Over the brookscollegeprep.org
course of the months she spent teaching Honors French I and II,
she put care into crafting her lessons. She made every effort to connect with her
students in a virtual classroom, incorporating different platforms to engage
the students in learning both content and culture for authentic communication.
She strove to improve each day and heeded suggestions for
improvememt. In order to do that, she sought actionable feedback to change her
lessons. She wanted to make her lessons fun and inspire her students to turn on
their microphones and cameras and speak. She took copious notes and revised
her lessons based on the level of the students’ engagement.
She wanted full responsibility for the classes, not just the openly rewarding
part of speaking and reading with students. She wanted to master the mundane
parts such as grading against a rubrics and assessment writing. To accomplish
that, we met for extended periods to practice grading and writing various types
of assessments.
She was timely with her professional duties. She welcomed questions and
emails from students and responded promptly and professionally.
She maintained classroom routines and created new ones. She sought to
maintain vertical alignment for the offerings so every student
Elyse Flannery was an asset to Brooks and brought a positive energy to
our classes during a difficult period. Any school will benefit from her many
attributes.
