Health of a Nation: A Discussion on Mass Shootings, Mental Health, and White Supremacy
• One of my first events and
arguably one of the most controversial. • This gave students an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists which included the Deputy Chief of NIU PD. • Beginning in February 2021, in partnership with the Pick Museum we sponsored a museum exhibit of racist items Hateful Things Exhibit • I have had the opportunity to create programming around it, be in he virtual tour, and help with the unboxing of it. So-Full Friday and Graduate Colloquium February 2021
• Telling stories and honoring these
experiences is one of the tenets of Critical Race Theory and has been a key part of my own development. • This event went beautifully, and a great conversation was held on the importance of storytelling and how to empower our students • The So-Full Friday showed the importance of inclusion and what that means to students to feel “seen”.
