1. ‘Poverty is not solely an economic issue, but rather a multidimensional phenomenon


that encompasses a lack of both income and the basic capabilities to live in dignity.
Persons living in poverty are confronted by the most severe obstacles – physical,
economic, cultural and social – to accessing their rights and entitlements’. On the basis
of given statement, how far do you agree that poverty is the greatest denial of the
exercise of human rights. Also discuss in detail the range of human rights which gets
violated when a person is poor. (Marks 30)

2. ‘Free Legal aid to the poor and other vulnerable is necessary for the preservation
of rule of law which is necessary for the existence of the orderly society. Legal
aid services provided by the empanelled legal practioners are free but people are
reluctant to approach legal aid authorities for such services’. Throw light on the given
statement and quote your opinion about the plight of free legal aid services in Indian
and how it ensures promotion of justice on the basis of equal opportunity. (Marks 30)
