Answer the following questions

• Please state given, to find and assumptions for numerical problems (this is just good
practice)
• Please draw schematics wherever applicable

Chapter 4 Problems: 8, 9, 14, 21, 31, 34, 39, 41, 58, 71, 77, 82, 88

• For all problems sketch the system at the beginning and end states, and note given system
properties. Also sketch the P-v diagram, labeling the beginning and ending states, and also
showing the process path.
• For 4-41, the key is understanding what is constant when a fluid expands into a vacuum.
The tank being insulated means no heat enters or leaves the system.
• For 4-58 and 4-71, determine the change of internal energy (1) by calculating an average
specific heat value using Table A-2b, and (2) by interpolating using Tables A-22 and A-17
respectively. Compare the values of Q for each method.
• Problem 4-88, also list the 2 pieces of data mentioned in the problem statement that are not
needed to solve the problem.
