Why does a person have a lump on the arm after the

meningococcal vaccine?

Where is the lump?

The most common place I’ve seen lumps after

vaccination is at the site of the injection itself. A
“sterile abscess” can develop, where inflammation
after the vaccine may cause the bump but no
bacteria are found inside.

Another kind of lump can be in the lymph nodes

which drain the region of the injection.

If there is a lump not in the injection site and not at a

lymph node location, please add more details, attach
a photo and resubmit the question I’d suggest; or see
your doctor!
