Acting agencies:

A talent agent, or booking agent, is a person who finds jobs for actors,
authors, broadcast journalists, film directors, musicians, models,
professional athletes, screenwriters, writers, and other professionals in
various entertainment or broadcast businesses.

Acting agents spend most of their time arranging auditions and client
bookings, they sort out travel arrangements and also handle any fan mail
or media requests on the client’s behalf. You can also have a side job
while having an agency, eg- modelling, retail, singing.

Why would an actor use an agent?

Having an agent who is looking at your career more objectively means

they can offer insights and advice that you can't see. A good agent will
have at least a couple of strategy meetings with you over the course of a
year. You can both reflect and work together to see where to go next.
Actors obviously want jobs, agents can provide this. They also don’t have
to hand all the fan mail the receive, making their lives less stressful. They
can save you money and time, some acting jobs only accept actors with
an agency which is a big advantage. They’re also very experienced
meaning they can help out with everything you need to know.

William Morris Agency. Promoted to Head of Talent in Europe, Suewas
responsible for the agency's domestic and international roster of clients.
She is part of the largest independent creative company.

Agencies require a CV, head shot, sometimes height.

Confidence is something agencies look for, their client should have good
communication skills. Having a good passion for your job is also very
important, not for money. As an actor I have good communication skills,
I’m good with working with a crew.

1st choice- I have a big passion for singing, music would be the
best course for me to show what talent I have. I spend most of
my time writing songs and uploading them on Spotify.

2nd choice- this is my current course, I am really enjoying it. I

have gained so much confidence as an actor, singer and dancer.

3rd choice- an apprenticeship (haven’t thought that far ahead

yet).
