1. How is Contemporary Art different from Traditional or Modern Art?

Contemporary Art means art of the moment, its artworks are made by living
artists that focuses of the modern society and its societal issues, the
contemporary artists challenges the viewers to criticize the masterpiece with its
underlying message or if it’s interesting or challenging rather than criticizing it
with its beauty or techniques. Unlike traditional or modern art; videos,
photographs, animation, murals, graffiti are all considered to be a contemporary
art. Contemporary Art is more conceptual rather than aesthetical, and its
materials can be literally anything, the possibilities are endless.

2. What are the characteristics of contemporary art?

Originality is not an issue to contemporary artists. The contemporary art can

be found not only in museums but can be at the public places where everyone
can see without taking themselves to the exhibits.

3. Why is “process” rather than “sale” important in contemporary art?

Most contemporary artists do not sell their artwork because they prioritize
the reactions of the audience, their perspectives and opinions, reflection,
interpretation are what makes the art valuable. That is why process is more
important than the price for the contemporary artists.

4. Why is “originality” not an issue to contemporary arts?

The whole concept of contemporary art is to let the audience criticize the
artwork by its meaning (or at least what they think is the meaning), originality
is not an issue to the Contemporary arts because every unique interpretation of
the viewers makes the artwork original already.
