PRODUCT IDEA: ADBILL (Advertisements on Electronic


Billboard Management System)

NEED

Advertising is a form of marketing communication that deals with the promotion


of a certain service or product. It aims to gradually increase the sales and profit of an
organization. ADBILL is a mobile application that will cater to the advertising needs of a
business. The application will serve as a platform between the potential advertisers and
the electronic billboard owners. The application will process the ASC (Ad Standards
Council) requirements for the content to be approved and ready to be published in an
electronic billboard.

The goal of advertising is to boost the business's bottom line: to inform, persuade
or remind customers about their product. Without advertising it would not be possible to
tell people about new products and services. Another reason for advertising is to
increase the company's market share of a given industry. Upon increasing the number
of loyal consumers, the company has flexibility with the product's price elasticity.
Advertising also serves to inform the consumer about a product's features, purpose and
functionality. This is especially crucial for companies unveiling new and innovative
products. Companies purveying technical items with complicated features often release
advertisements of individuals exploiting the use of these items.

A lot of business owners are too busy in improving their specific field without
knowing that not publicizing their business may only be the thing that is stopping them
from their success. Some people are broadcasting their business but still fail by not
having the proper location for the content. Nowadays, people do not have a time to
physically search a medium for them to advertise their business. They solely rely on
social media for advertising not knowing that there is still some people who does not
rely on social media. This results to failure in linking business to some of its target
customers.

Some business owners don’t have the luxury of time and money to popularize
their business. Some advertisers are fined by the government due to some contents
that are not suitable to the public. Mass production of printing banners on papers and
other similar products can cause harm to the environment. Some civilians are not fond
of using social media or the internet that is why business owners fail to reach potential
customers using online advertisements.

The proposed solution is a mobile application that let the public advertise their
business easily through electronic billboards. By using the app, both small and big
market business will now have a convenient way to broadcast their business via the
electronic billboard that is scattered in and out of Metro Manila. The mobile application
will include a map that shows exactly where the electronic billboards are. Once the user
selects the billboard or billboards that they want to use, the app will compute for the
total charges depending on the rate agreed upon reservation. The payment can be
done thru online banking. Once paid, the content that will come from the user will
proceed to the Ad Standards Council (ASC) for approval. Upon approval, the content
will be played in that specific chosen electronic billboard. Unapproved contents are
subjected to changes or revisions.

With the proposed mobile application named “ADBILL”, advertising on electronic


billboards are now at hand. It will provide convenience to both potential business
owners who would like to advertise and also the electronic billboard owners who are
looking for their clients. The application will offer the advertising needs of the people.

The following are the Products and services offered by ADBILL:

Main Product

ADBILL is an application that will allow customers to advertise their content on


electronic billboards. The customers can select a specific billboard to use using our map
that shows the billboard’s location. The application will serve as a bridge between the
customers and the billboard owners. The application will not only be used by business
owners who want to publicize their products, use, and content but also for possible
government officials for campaigning purposes.

The application will incorporate Google Maps, it will provide the application with
the map which shows the exact location of electronic billboards in the country. The
application can also provide some competition since small and big billboard owners
want to be known and join the system. The application will also use with Microsoft SQL
server to take care of the database needed by our application which includes data and
information that the system will receive. G-Cash, Paymaya and will be ones handling
the financial transactions of the system.
Business owners who would like to advertise their content can manually search
different electronic billboards physically or online. The problem with this is that it takes a
lot of time and effort in finding one and contacting them for a possible partnership.
Billboard owners are not allowed to just simply publicize the content to the public
immediately. The content should first be brought to ASC for approval because they are
the ones who are in charged of all kinds advertisements including the contents that will
be featured in the electronic billboards. The process of approval by the ASC will be
inconvenient since they will be asking for the down to detail information regarding the
business and payment details of potential advertisers. Once the advertisers already
paid the billboard owners together with the approved content by the ASC that will be the
only time the content will be featured to the electronic billboard.

This application is readily available to anyone with a smartphone. It is also for


business owners who are having a hard time in advertising its business. It is for
politicians who wants to campaign using electronic billboards. The clients are the
electronic billboard owners who are looking for someone to advertise with them.

This application is available for people who use mobile devices. It is for business
owners especially small market business owners who want to make sure that their
business is on full swing by promoting their service or product in selected electronic
billboards. Individuals or groups who are running for office in the government can be
entertained by the application. Lastly, the government can utilize our application for
public notice and announcements. The application offers an opportunity to people to
expose their desired content. Another target market for the proposed project is the
electronic billboard owners. The application enables the electronic billboard owners to
reach its potential customers easily. The project will benefit both advertisers and
electronic billboard owners since the application will be a stepping stone for them to
meet.
Over 200 different companies’ worldwide market digital signage solutions and the
number is still consistently growing. With the influx of digital signage providers, the
digital signage market is expected to grow upward to $21.92 Billion USD by 2020.

ZenithOptimedia predicts global ad expenditure will grow 4.7% in 2016,


reaching US$579 billion by the end of the year. This will be a 0.8 percentage point
improvement on 2015: 2016 is a ‘quadrennial’ year, when ad expenditure is boosted by
the Summer Olympics, the US presidential election and the UEFA football
championship in Europe. The global ad market has enjoyed stable growth since 2011,
with growth rates ranging between 4% and 5% a year, and we expect it to maintain this
pace for the rest of the forecast period.
Since the December 2012 edition of our forecasts we have looked at the growth
rates of different regional blocs defined by the similarity of the performance of their ad
markets as well as their geographical proximity. This captures the behaviour of different
regional ad markets more effectively than looking at regions defined purely by

remarkably few products around. It would be near impossible to innovate in a world
where it's not possible to tell people efficiently about what you have done.

APPROACH

The ADBILL application is an online mobile platform that that links the electronic
billboard owners to its potential advertisers. The application promotes an environment
friendly community due to its intention to oppose the mass production of printed papers
and banners that will eventually lead to a waste product overtime. The application will
try to lessen or to totally eliminate illegal advertisements by constantly getting the
approval of the ASC to promote responsible advertising. The application will be the
channel for small market business to advertise. Lastly, ADBILL mobile application will
be an advocate in supporting local products and services to somehow boost the
Philippine economy.

1. Billboard Locator

The app will include a map indicating the exact location of the electronic
billboards that can be utilized as a medium for publicity. This feature will
maximize the user capability by choosing a specific electronic billboard to use.
This is the part where the Google Maps will be incorporated with the application.
The map will include the exact location of the electronic billboards that are
incorporated in the system. Once the content has already been approved by the
ASC, the advertiser can already choose a specific billboard to publicize the
content.

2. ASC processing

The app will work on the ASC approval of the content that is necessary in
publicising the content in an electronic billboard. This feature will process the
ASC approval of the chosen content. This procedure may take a couple of days
since ASC will be the one handling this stage and the application will have no
control with regards to the timeframe.

3. Online Transaction
The app will incorporate an online paying system by using G-Cash and
Paymaya as an instrument for financial transactions.

4. Register

This allows the user to register his or her information into the application.
This feature is applicable for advertisers and electronic billboard owners. Some
of the information needed are the company name, name of user and contact
details.
5. Login

This feature enables the user to login using their created account. Once
finished the user can proceed to the application’s home page which opens the
windows to the more important features of the mobile application.

6. Upload Content

This feature enables the user to upload files to be used for


advertisements. The uploaded content may be a picture or a video file that will be
ready for further processing.

7. Content Status

This feature shows what the current status of each of the contents are.
This shows the progress of the content in terms of its value chain. The possible
status of the content may be currently being processed by ASC or pending due
to unsettled payment.

User Manual

1. This is the opening interface of the application


wherein the user can login or sign up.

2. Once the user clicked the Login and sign up


button, the user will proceed to the selection of type
of user that will be used.
3. The signing up phase includes the input of the different information needed by
the application.

4. Once the advertiser has successfully logged-in the Home Page appear to cater the
primary features of the application.

5. The upload a content feature enables the


user to upload a content. The file may be in a picture
or video format.

Approved. This is the process of choosing a
specific Content that will be bound for the

will define the rights of that billboard and the user will select the

9. Content Status feature will display the current Status of


every uploaded content.
10. This interface will serve as a link between the users And
the application if there are any concerns or feedback.

11. After Logging in as an electronic billboard owner, its


Home Page will appear.

12. Pending Requests interface will show all the advertisers


that Want to publicize their content. The user can accept the
request.

13. Payment Options interface will feature the methods of


payment To be chosen by the user.

ADBILL application will not replace any related apps since other competitors deals with
advertisements on an online platform. Business owners is the primary consumer of the
proposed application. The enterprise is heavily dependent on the number of business
owners that is venturing the mobile app. If the number of business owners decrease,
ADBILL will also lose its profits due to unsatisfied customers.
