What is insulin?
Amandy
Insulin is a hormone that lowers the level of glucose in the blood. It released into the blood
when the glucose level goes up, such as after eating. Insulin helps glucose enter the body's
cells, where it can be used for energy or stored for future use.

If a person’s blood sugar level drops too low, they may experience symptoms, such as:
Dizziness
pale skin
sweating
twitching of muscles
seizure
trouble speaking
fatigue
confusion
loss of consciousnes
Hypoglycemia is the most common and most serious complication of insulin therapy. Hypoglycemia can
be potentially life-threatening. Most patients who use insulin experience hypoglycemia at one time or
another. If a patient injects too much insulin blood glucose level can fall low enough to cause
hypoglycemia.
